   Sammanfattning : Geography, in terms of the built environment and location patterns, was traditionally, and still is, emphasized by many scholars, policymakers, and planners as greatly influencing people’s daily travel behaviour. However, taking recent decades of rapidly increasing mobility capabilities (physical as well as virtual) into account, and the related increase in individual choice opportunities, others argue that the importance of geographic factors has gradually dissolved.    Sammanfattning : The coordination of health care and social care at discharge are particularly important for older adults with complex health and social needs, as approximately 30 % of these persons are readmitted to hospital on an unplanned basis within three months of discharge.    Sammanfattning : Aims: The overall aims of this thesis were: a) to compare stroke unit (SU) care and its continuum with care on general wards (GW) for elderly patients, concerning resource use and costs for care and rehabilitation focusing on assistive technology in a one-year follow-up and, b) to explore the use and cost of assistive devices (ADs), ability in daily activities and self-rated health-related quality of life (HRQL) longitudinally.Methods: Two hundred and forty-nine persons >70 years were followed in a randomized, prospective study evaluating SU care after acute stroke.
