1. Interactive antiproliferative mechanisms when 5-fluorouracil is combined with cisplatin or ionizing radiation : an in vivo and in vitro experimental study
Sammanfattning : Results from clinical studies and experimental investigations have given evidence of a synergistic effect when 5- fluorouracil (5-FU) has been combined with radiation or cisplatin (CDDP). From earlier experiments performed by the research team we know, that addition of S-FU to CDDP can synergistically increase the antiproliferative effect. LÄS MER
2. Mechanisms of Regulation of the Cell Cycle Inhibitor p21Waf1/Cip1 in TGF-β-Mediated Cell Growth Inhibition
Sammanfattning : TGF-β is the founding member of a multifunctional family of cytokines that regulate many aspects of cell physiology, including cell growth, differentiation, motility and death and play important roles in many developmental and pathological processes. TGF-β signals by binding to a heterotetrameric complex of type I and type II serine/threonine kinase receptors. LÄS MER
3. Cyclin E overexpression and associated events in human breast cancer
Sammanfattning : Unrestrained proliferation is a hallmark of cancer and genetic defects within G1/S-phase regulation and the pRb pathway occur frequently. Proliferation control can be circumvented either by excess cyclin D1 or cyclin E, alterations that can define two alternative tumour biologic pathways in breast cancer. LÄS MER
4. G1-phase cyclin expression in neoplastic B cells
Sammanfattning : By virtue of the role of G1-phase cyclin proteins as regulators of differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis, their improper expression can lead to altered cellular homeostasis and tumor formation. Cyclins provide the regulatory partner for cyclin-cdk complexes whose enzymatic activity drives cell cycle progression. LÄS MER
5. Molecular mechanism of cell regulatory properties of vitamin D analogues in human cancer cell lines
Sammanfattning : The active form of vitamin D, 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, is a potent modulator of the induction of differentiation and inhibition of cell growth in both malignant and normal cells. Vitamin D and its analogues exert their effects through a transcription factor, the nuclear vitamin D receptor (VDR). LÄS MER
