31. The Co-Structure Directing Agent (CSDA) Approach to Mesoporous Silica Formation – Exploring the Assembly Characteristics
Sammanfattning : We investigate the formation mechanism responsible for two specific systems of mesoporous silicas formed with the so-called co-structure directing agent (CSDA) route. The synthesis relies on the interactions between silica source (tetraethylorthosilicate, TEOS), surfactants and CSDA. LÄS MER
32. Emulsion formation and stability - Impact of the dispersed state of the emulsifier on emulsification
Sammanfattning : Emulsions find a variety of applications in for example food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical preparations. In order to obtain emulsions with desired properties it is important to understand how different factors, such as the properties of the emulsifier and the emulsification procedure, impact the final emulsion properties. 33. Phase separation, aggregation and gelation of a charged helixforming polysaccharide in aqueous salt solution
Sammanfattning : The phase behaviour and gelation of the anionic polysaccharide kappa-carrageenan (KC) in different salt solutions was studied. The specific site binding of certain anions and certain cations to the KC helix was used as a means of controlling the interactions. LÄS MER
34. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Graphene and Hydrated Biomaterial Nanostructures : Novel Techniques and Analysis
Sammanfattning : Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) on light element materials and soft matters is problematic due to electron irradiation damage and low contrast. In this doctoral thesis techniques were developed to address some of those issues and successfully characterize these materials at high resolution. LÄS MER
35. Preparation, characterisation and wetting of fluorinated cellulose surfaces
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the wetting by oil mixtures of two different model cellulose surfaces. The surfaces studied were a regenerated cellulose (RG) surface prepared by spin-coating, and a film consisting of polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEM) of Poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI) and a carboxymethylated Microfibrillated Cellulose (MFC).
