21. Adsorption of proteins on zeolite FAU
Sammanfattning : A highly dealuminated form of zeolite FAU, ultra-stable zeolite Y (USY), was used as an adsorbent matrix in the purification of proteins. Undesired proteins were removed from a crude preparation by adsorption on USY, increasing the purity of an unadsorbed protein (horse radish peroxidase), or the protein of interest was adsorbed on the zeolite and subsequently eluted through changes in the solution conditions (hen egg lysozyme, mouse-immunoglobulin G). 22. Bulk and interfacial properties of cellulose ethers
Sammanfattning : This work summarizes several studies that all concern cellulose ethers of the types methylcellulose (MC) hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) and ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose (EHEC). They share the feature of negative temperature response, as they are soluble in water at room temperature but phase separate and sometimes form gels at high temperatures. LÄS MER
23. Association Phenomena in Aqueous Solutions of Surfactants and Hydrophobically Modified Polymers
Sammanfattning : Interactions between ionic surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate and dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) and nonionic polymers ((hydroxyethyl)cellulose, ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose and their hydrophobically modified analogous) have been studied by means of rheology, pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR), time-resolved fluorescence quenching (TRFQ), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). In all experiments surfactants have been added in various amounts to polymer solutions at fixed concentrations. LÄS MER
24. Formation of Block Copolymer and Surfactant Vesicles
Sammanfattning : In this thesis temperature induced vesicle formation in both a block copolymer system and nonionic surfactant system have been investigated. The block copolymer is a triblock copolymer of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO), PEO-PPO-PEO, with the average molecular composition of EO5PO68EO5 and the commercial trade name Pluronic L121 (papers I, II). 25. Structure and stability of liposomes : Interactions with micelle- forming surfactants
Sammanfattning : The stability of phospholipid lipomes interacting with micelle-forming surfactants was studied under physiological conditions (150 mM NaCl and pH=7.4 unless otherwise stated) mainly by use of cryo-TEM and fluorescence. LÄS MER
