6. Genomic Variation and Evolution of HERV-H and other Endogenous Retroviruses (ERVs)
Sammanfattning : An exogenous retrovirus (XRV) that integrates into a germ cell may be inherited as a Mendelian gene; it becomes an endogenous retrovirus (ERV). The human genome consists of up to 8% HERVs. The gammaretroviral (ERV class I) HERV-H, with 926 members, is the largest ERV group. LÄS MER
7. Integration of Arabidopsis and poplar model systems to elucidate gene function during wood formation
Sammanfattning : Wood is an essential raw material being used for a number of different applications including construction, pulp and paper production and as a source of biomass for bioenergy generation. The increasing number of sequenced plant genomes provides powerful tools to evaluate plant gene function. LÄS MER
8. Lagovirus europaeus GI.2/RHDV2 (Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus 2) : expanding the paradigm of a pathogenic lagovirus
Sammanfattning : Rabbit haemorrhagic disease (RHD) was first detected in 1984 and quickly spread among wild and domestic European rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) throughout the world. RHD and European brown hare syndrome (EBHS), a related disease of hares (Lepus spp.), are caused by pathogenic lagoviruses of the Family Caliciviridae. LÄS MER
9. Swine influenza A virus subtype H1N2 in Sweden
Sammanfattning : The influenza A virus subtypes H1N1, H1N2 and H3N2 are prevalent in pig populations worldwide. All scientific data point towards swine as the key host species for new human influenza pandemics, which have been suggested to evolve in pigs from viral genes of avian, human and porcine origin. 10. Pheromones, genes & transcriptomes. A molecular analysis of moth sex pheromone production
Sammanfattning : Female moths emit sex pheromones to lure a mate. In this thesis I examined the transcriptomes of female moth pheromone glands in order to identify genes encoding proteins involved in pheromone production. Two cDNA-libraries were constructed from Agrotis segetum (Noctuidae) pheromone glands and the remaining body tissue, respectively. LÄS MER
