1. Rail Corrugation Growth on Curves
Sammanfattning : The development of periodic irregularities with distinct wavelengths (corrugation) on the low rail of small radius curves is studied through mathematical modelling, numerical simulations, field measurements and laboratory investigations. One year of monitoring of roughness on the low rail of a 120 m radius curve on the metro of Stockholm Public Transport (SL) showed severe growth of rail corrugation with wavelengths of about 5 cm and 8 cm. 2. Rail Corrugation Growth on Curves
Sammanfattning : Short-pitch rail corrugation that may develop on the low (inner) rail on small radius curves causes increased noise and vibration levels on railway networks worldwide. In lack of a generally applicable treatment, track authorities are forced to run expensive rail grinding programs on a regular basis to manage these problems. LÄS MER
3. Out-of-Round Railway Wheels - Causes and Consequences An Investigation Including Field Tests, Out-of-Roundness Measurements and Numerical Simulations
Sammanfattning : Causes and consequences of out-of-round railway wheels are investigated through literature studies, full-scale field experiments, out-of-roundness measurements, and numerical simulations. Both defects around the complete wheel circumference (e.g. polygonal wheels with wavelengths up to one wheel circumference) and local defects (e. LÄS MER
4. Basic Testing and Strength Design of Corrugated Board and Containers
Sammanfattning : Packaging serves a lot of purposes, and would be hard to do without. Packaging protects the goods during transport, saves costs, informs about the product, and extends its durability. A transport package is required to be strong and lightweight in order to be cost effective. LÄS MER
5. Tread Braking of Railway Wheels - Noise-related Tread Roughness and Dimensioning Wheel Temperatures
Sammanfattning : Block braking is a commonly used braking system for freight wagons and other types of railway vehicles. One or several brake blocks are pressed against the tread (running surface) of the wheel, which is also in rolling contact with the rail. LÄS MER
