1. The effect of microstructure and temperature on the atmospheric corrosion of Mg-Al alloys
Sammanfattning : The NaCl-induced atmospheric corrosion behavior of the Mg-Al alloy AM50 produced by rheo-casting (RC) and high pressure die casting (HPDC) techniques was studied in the laboratory. The exposures were performed at 95% RH in the absence and presence of 400 ppm CO2 at 22, 4 and -4ºC. In parallel, 99.97%Mg was investigated as reference. LÄS MER
2. FEM Modelling of Micro-galvanic Corrosion in Al Alloys Induced by Intermetallic Particles : Exploration of Chemical and Geometrical Effects
Sammanfattning : Localized corrosion, such as pitting, crevice corrosion or galvanic corrosion, is a long-standing phenomenon that can greatly limit the life of metallic materials. For decades experimental methods have been used to try to understand the underlying physical, chemical and electrochemical processes that control localized corrosion in order to find effective protection methods against its propagation. 3. Atmospheric corrosion of zinc-aluminum and copper-based alloys in chloride-rich environments : Microstructure, corrosion initiation, patina evolution and metal release
Sammanfattning : Fundamental understanding of atmospheric corrosion mechanisms requires an in-depth understanding on the dynamic interaction between corrosive constituents and metal/alloy surfaces. This doctoral study comprises field and laboratory investigations that assess atmospheric corrosion and metal release processes for two different groups of alloys exposed in chloride-rich environments. 4. Corrosion of painted galvanized steel pretreated with Zr-based thin films
Sammanfattning : For decades, phosphating has been considered state of the art for pretreating car bodies in order to promote corrosion resistance and paint adhesion. Although it offers excellent corrosion protection, the phosphating process has drawbacks. LÄS MER
5. Influence of hydrogen on corrosion and stress induced cracking of stainless steel
Sammanfattning : Hydrogen is the smallest element in the periodical table. It has been shown in several studies that hydrogen has a large influence on the corrosion and cracking behaviour of stainless steels. Hydrogen is involved in several of the most common cathode reactions during corrosion and can also cause embrittlement in many stainless steels. LÄS MER
