1. Human copper ion transfer : from metal chaperone to target transporter domain
Sammanfattning : Many processes in living systems occur through transient interactions among proteins. Those interactions are often weak and are driven by small changes in free energy. LÄS MER
2. New insights into lubricated tribological contacts
Sammanfattning : The emissions of carbon dioxide, CO2, must rapidly be reduced to avoid severe climate change. Tribology-related solutions can be an important part in reducing these emissions. The aim of this thesis is to improve the fundamental knowledge in two tribology-related fields, both concerning lubrication, to enable such solutions in the future. LÄS MER
3. Development of a Yeast Model for Functional Analysis of Human Copper Transport Proteins
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Copper (Cu) is an important trace element that plays a vital role in several biological processes. It mediates numerous biochemical functions to maintain cellular homeostasis making it an essential metal for sustaining life. LÄS MER
4. The use of fluorescence techniques for the study of some membrane-bound photosynthetic properties and some effects of copper on the thylakoid membrane
Sammanfattning : Lyophilized pea chloroplasts were extracted in a stepwise manner in an organic solvent (petroleum ether) with increasing polarity which was obtained by addition of small amount of ETOH (0-1 %). Absorption and low temperature fluorescence emission spectra were measured on both the extracted thylakoids and on isolated chlorophylI-protein complexes. LÄS MER
5. Transport of Heavy Metals in Soil Subjected to an Electric Field -A Study of the Transport of Copper in Bentonite Clay
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis addressesphosphorus release from sewage sludge, which is the first stepin phosphorus recovery. The concept ofphosphorus recovery maybe seen as a part of sustainable sludge handling in that it isa means of recycling resources without supplying harmfulsubstances to humans or the environment.
