1. New Constructions for Competitive and Minimal-Adaptive Group Testing
Sammanfattning : Group testing (GT) was originally proposed during the World War II in an attempt to minimize the \emph{cost} and \emph{waiting time} in performing identical blood tests of the soldiers for a low-prevalence disease. Formally, the GT problem asks to find $d\ll n$ \emph{defective} elements out of $n$ elements by querying subsets (pools) for the presence of defectives. LÄS MER
2. Engineering Competitive and Query-Optimal Minimal-Adaptive Randomized Group Testing Strategies
Sammanfattning : Suppose that given is a collection of $n$ elements where $d$ of them are \emph{defective}. We can query an arbitrarily chosen subset of elements which returns Yes if the subset contains at least one defective and No if the subset is free of defectives. The problem of group testing is to identify the defectives with a minimum number of such queries. LÄS MER
3. Programming Model and Protocols for Reconfigurable Distributed Systems
Sammanfattning : Distributed systems are everywhere. From large datacenters to mobile devices, an ever richer assortment of applications and services relies on distributed systems, infrastructure, and protocols. Despite their ubiquity, testing and debugging distributed systems remains notoriously hard. LÄS MER
4. Monitoring Health Problems and Training to Support Performance in Competitive Cross-Country Ski Athletes
Sammanfattning : Competitive cross-country (XC) ski athletes (defined hereafter as XC skiers and biathletes combined) are vulnerable to developing various health-related symptoms and conditions due to several factors, such as high physiological and psychological demands, extreme competition and training environments, high training loads, demanding competition schedules, and frequent travel. On initiating this work, we (the author and supervisory team) were approached by the Swedish Ski Association (SSF) and the Swedish Biathlon Federation (SSSF) to investigate the relationships between training, racing, and health problems, with a specific focus on illnesses (rather than injuries), and an ultimate goal of improving future support practices and athletic performance. 5. Non-linear behaviour of polymer composites, moisture effects and accelerated testing
Sammanfattning : The society of today is moving fast and the demands on almost everything are getting higher and higher. This can also be seen in the field of material science, where lightweight, high performance materials are gaining increased interest in order to be able to develop for example high performing vehicles with low fuel consumption or wind turbines with higher efficiency.
