1. Influence of thermal mass on the heating and cooling demands of a building unit
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this work is to find to what extent the thermal properties of the building materials, the allowed indoor temperature swing, determined by the comfort interval, and, to some extent, the ventilation strategy can affect the heating and cooling demand of a building. It is well known that a thermally heavy building, that is a building with a high heat capacity, often demands less energy for heating and cooling and have a more stabile indoor temperature due to heat storage in the building structure. 2. Thermal Modelling of Water-Based Floor Heating Systems - supply temperature optimisation and self-regulating effects
Sammanfattning : Low temperature water-based concrete embedded floor heating systems are studied. The utilisation of low quality heat sources is facilitated by low temperature heating. Theoretical models which describe the transient thermal floor heating operation constitute the basis for the analysis. LÄS MER
3. Testing large samples of PCM in water calorimeter and PCM used in room applications by night-air cooling
Sammanfattning : The latent-heat-storage capacity in Phase-Change Materials can be used for storing or releasing energy within a small temperature interval. Upon the phase transition taking place in a narrow temperature span, the material takes up or releases more energy compared to sensible heat storage. LÄS MER
4. Demand Side Activities for Electric Load Reduction
Sammanfattning : The research described in this thesis, focuses on some activities on the demand side that could reduce peak load in electricity system by using consumer flexibility i.e. by increasing the demand side response to signals coming from the energy market. LÄS MER
5. Protection and treatment of hypothermia in prehospital trauma care : with emphasis on active warming
Sammanfattning : Background: In prehospital trauma care active warming is recommended to aid in protection from further cooling. However, scientific evidence of the effectiveness of active warming in a clinical setting is scarce. Also, evaluating the effectiveness of active warming, especially in harsh ambient conditions, by objective measures, is difficult. LÄS MER
