11. Natural aquatic colloidal matter : Characteristics and impact on the mobility of trace metals and organics
Sammanfattning : Natural colloidal (< 1.0 µm) matter plays an important role for tbe transport and redistribution of water-borne substances. The aim of this work was to characterise colloidal matter from surface waters and groundwaters, and to improve on the understanding on the role of natural colloidal matter in the redistribution and mobility of trace metals. 12. Interactions between polymeric dispersants and colloidal ceramic surfaces
Sammanfattning : Increased use of environmentally acceptable chemicals and reduced energy consumption are two foreseeable demands within the ceramics industry. This will require the replacement of organic solvents and lowering of sintering temperatures. LÄS MER
13. Interaction Between Microgels and Oppositely Charged Proteins
Sammanfattning : This thesis reports on interactions between microgels and oppositely charged proteins. Two types of negatively charged microgels are investigated: poly(acrylic acid) microgels of 60-80 µm in diameter, and colloidal poly(NIPAM-co-acrylic acid) microgels of around 1 µm in diameter. 14. AKD sizing : dispersion colloidal stability, spreading and sizing with pre-flocculated dispersion
Sammanfattning : Alkylketene dimer, AKD, dispersions are used in the paper industry to obtain paper grades with a hydrophobic character i.e. resistance to sorption of water. AKD is used in neutral to alkaline internal sizing, pH in the interval of 6-9. LÄS MER
15. Mesoporous Silica SBA-15 - Formation, Modification and Application
Sammanfattning : Several aspects related to the mesoporous silica material SBA-15 have been studied through the use of a wide range of experimental techniques, including low voltage high-resolution scanning electron microscopy, small angle X-ray scattering and nitrogen sorption. This work contains three parts, which are in many ways overlapping. LÄS MER
