  1. 1. Mitochondrial function in human skeletal muscle: with special reference to exercise and training

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm

    Författare :Michail Tonkonogi; Högskolan Dalarna.; [2000]
    Nyckelord :aerobic metabolism; oxidative phosphorylation; mitochondria; oxygen utilisation; citrate synthase; ADP sensitivity; ATP; muscle fibres; hydrogen ions; lactate; free radicals; proton leak; uncoupling; exercise;

    Sammanfattning : The overall objective of this thesis was to study the adaptation of oxidative function in human skeletal muscle to acute exercise of different modes, intensities and durations, and to endurance training.The effects of endurance training on mitochondrial function were evaluated in cross-sectional and longitudinal studies by measurements of mitochondrial oxygen consumption in isolated mitochondria and permeabilised muscle fibres and measurements of mitochondrial ATP production rate in isolated mitochondria. 2. 2. Engineering cytosolic acetyl-CoA metabolism in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Detta är en avhandling från Chalmers University of Technology

    Författare :Yiming Zhang; Chalmers tekniska högskola.; Chalmers University of Technology.; [2015]
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; yeast; acetyl-CoA; central carbon metabolism; mitochondria; pyruvate decarboxylase; genomic DNA sequencing; reverse engineering; adaptive evolution; hexose transporter; citrate synthase; histone deacetylase; ferredoxin; flavodoxin; ferredoxin flavodoxin NADP reductase; aerobic growth; metabolic engineering.;

    Sammanfattning : A Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain carrying deletions in all three pyruvate decarboxylase genes (also called Pdc negative yeast) represents a non-ethanol producing platform strain for biochemical production. However, it cannot grow on glucose as the sole carbon source due to the lack of cytosolic acetyl-CoA for lipid biosynthesis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular Simulation of Enzyme Catalysis and Inhibition

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Sinisa Bjelic; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :Theoretical chemistry; enzyme catalysis; enzyme inhibition; computer simulations; molecular dynamics; empirical valence bond method; structure-based inhibitor design; Teoretisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The reaction mechanisms for the hemoglobin degrading enzymes in the Plasmodium falciparum malaria parasite, plasmepsin II (Plm II) and histo-aspartic protease (HAP), have been analyzed by molecular simulations. The reaction free energy profiles, calculated by the empirical valence bond (EVB) method in combination with molecular dynamics (MD) and free energy perturbation (FEP) simulations are in good agreement with experimental data. 5. 5. Rickettsia helvetica; Detection in arthropods and human tissues and its relation to clinical disease

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Kenneth Nilsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2002]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Communicable diseases; rickettsia; spotted fever; tick; PCR; myocarditis; sarcoidois; Infektionssjukdomar; MEDICINE Microbiology; immunology; infectious diseases Infectious diseases; MEDICIN Mikrobiologi; immunologi; infektionssjukdomar Infektionssjukdomar; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious Diseases;

    Sammanfattning : A relation between R. helvetica and perimyocarditis was, in two young men who died of sudden cardiac death during exercise in 1997, suggested by a seminested PCR, for three different genes, sequencing of the amplified products, documentation of a seroresponse and histopathologic changes in accordance with rickettsioses.
