1. Competition, Coexistence and Character Displacement : In a Young Avian Hybrid Zone
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the ecological and evolutionary implications of a recent secondary contact between two closely related bird species: collared (Ficedula albicollis) and pied (F. hypoleuca) flycatchers. LÄS MER
2. Gentrifiktionen : Zur literarischen Verarbeitung der Gentrifizierung in deutschsprachigen Berlin-Romanen nach 2000
Sammanfattning : Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, gentrification has restructured the urban fabric of the German capital profoundly. Although gentrification is one of the most widespread and controversial urban processes in many parts of the world today, literary discourses on gentrification remain under-studied. LÄS MER
3. The evolutionary ecology of niche separation : Studies on the sympatric butterflies Leptidea sinapis and Leptidea reali
Sammanfattning : Studies of ecology and evolution have become largely integrated, and increasing attention is paid to the role of ecology for speciation and post speciation divergence. In this thesis I have applied an in-depth approach studying the ecology of a butterfly species pair; the morphologically virtually identical sister-species, the Wood white (Leptidea sinapis) and Reál’s wood white (Leptidea reali). 4. Seaward Landward : Investigations on the archaeological source value of the landing site category in the Baltic Sea region
Sammanfattning : There is a tendency in archaeology dealing with watercraft landing sites in a wider context to assume a direct relationship between sites in coastal and shore-bound areas and the practise of landing, without any deeper practical or theoretical exploration of the reality of any such relationship. This problem has its origins in the poor archaeological and conceptual definitions of watercraft landing sites obstructing any real understanding of the role of these sites in the maritime cultural landscape. 5. Three-dimensional electron diffraction for studying order, disorder and flexibility in metal-organic frameworks
Sammanfattning : Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) represent a class of 3D crystalline porous materials composed of organic linkers and metal nodes. Over the years, tens of thousands of MOF architectures have been developed, addressing various applications such as gas storage and separation, catalysis, chemical sensing, ion exchange and drug delivery.
