1. Generating Dendritic Cells by Direct Cell Reprogramming. Merging cellular reprogramming with immunology towards the development of novel cancer immunotherapies
Sammanfattning : Cell fate reprogramming towards pluripotency or alternative somatic cell-types has highlighted the plasticity of adult somatic cells, providing new technologies to generate desired cell types for tissue repair or for disease modeling. There is momentum to bring these concepts to immunology by specifying unique immune cellular identities that set in motion immune responses. LÄS MER
2. Studies of individual pancreatic -cells : Electrophysiological analysis of rhythmic behaviour and development of new techniques
Sammanfattning : The insulin concentration in blood varies periodically, which is believed to prevent down-regulation of the hormone receptors. Loss of the regular insulin oscillations is considered to be an early sign of developing diabetes. LÄS MER
3. Profilin:actin in cell motility : A search for profilin:actin binding proteins
Sammanfattning : The profilin:actin complex is a major source of actin for actin filament growth in vivo. A number of proteins regulating either profilin or actin has been described since profilin:actin was isolated during the 1970s. Since then, profilin and actin and their binding partners have been intensively studied. LÄS MER
4. Stereotyped B Cell Receptors in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia : Implications for Antigen Selection in Leukemogenesis
Sammanfattning : Biased immunoglobulin heavy variable (IGHV) gene usage and distinctive B-cell receptor (BCR) features have been reported in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), which may reflect clonal selection by antigens during disease development. Furthermore, the IGHV gene mutation status distinguishes two clinical entities of CLL, where patients with unmutated IGHV genes have an inferior prognosis compared to those with mutated IGHV genes. 5. Towards a detailed understanding of the red blood cell storage lesion : and its consequences for in vivo survival following transfusion
Sammanfattning : Red blood cells (RBCs) are vital for oxygen delivery to tissues and constitute the vast majority of all cells in blood. After leaving the red bone marrow as mature cells, RBCs have a lifespan of approximately 120 days before they are removed from the circulation by macrophages, mainly in the spleen and liver. LÄS MER
