  1. 1. Seasonal variation and landscape regulation of dissolved organic carbon concentrations and character in Swedish boreal streams

    Författare :Anneli Ågren; Mats Jansson; Irena Creed; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DOC; temporal variation; spatial variation; seasonal variation; forested catchment; wetland catchment; catchment characteristics; DOC characteristics; absorbance-ratio; bioavailability.; Physical geography; Naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The seasonal variation and landscape regulation of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations in streams have been studied in two watersheds in the boreal zone. The seasonal variation was found to be highly correlated to variations in runoff. An increase in runoff was always accompanied with an increase in DOC concentration. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Spatiotemporal streamflow variability in a boreal landscape : Importance of landscape composition for catchment hydrological functioning

    Författare :Reinert Huseby Karlsen; Jan Seibert; Kevin Bishop; Thomas Grabs; Sarah E. Godsey; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; streamflow; catchment hydrology; boreal; water balance; spatiotemporal variability; landscape analysis; climate change; recession curve; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : The understanding of how different parts of a landscape contribute to streamflow by storing and releasing water has long been a central issue in hydrology. Knowledge about what controls streamflow dynamics across landscapes can further our understanding of how catchments store and release water, facilitate predictions for ungauged catchments, and improve the management of water quality and resources. 3. 3. Quantifying pollutant spreading and the risk of water pollution in hydrological catchments : A solute travel time-based scenario approach

    Författare :Klas Persson; Georgia Destouni; Aldo Fiori; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water pollution; catchment; pollution risk; scenario analysis; uncertainty; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The research presented in the thesis develops an approach for the estimation and mapping of pollutant spreading in catchments and the associated uncertainty and risk of pollution. The first step in the approach is the quantification and mapping of statistical and geographical distributions of advective solute travel times from pollutant input locations to downstream recipients. 4. 4. Future trends in urban stormwater quality : effects of changes in climate, catchment characteristics and processes and socio-economic factors

    Författare :Matthias Borris; Lian Lundy; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change and progressing urbanization cause numerous environmental concerns, including the impacts on urban drainage. Such impacts were addressed during the last two decades with focus on hydraulic overloading of drainage systems and the means of overload remediation by stormwater management. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Idiopathic parkinsonism : epidemiology and clinical characteristics of a population-based incidence cohort

    Författare :Jan Linder; Lars Forsgren; Ole-Bjørn Tysnes; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinsonism; Parkinson s disease; Multiple system atrophy; Progressive supranuclear palsy; Incidence; Magnetic resonance tomography; Electromyography; Oculomotor;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Idiopathic parkinsonism is a neurodegenerative syndrome of unknown cause and includes Parkinson’s disease (PD) and atypical parkinsonian disorders. The atypical parkinsonian disorders are: Multiple system atrophy (MSA), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and corticobasal degeneration (CBD). LÄS MER
