  1. 1. Prolonged Drug Release from Gels, using Catanionic Mixtures

    Författare :Tobias Bramer; Katarina Edsman; Per Hansson; Stefan Ulvenlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmaceutics; gel; catanionic; vesicle; micelle; controlled release; diffusion; surfactant; drug delivery; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : The use of catanionic drug-surfactant mixtures was proven to be an efficient novel method of obtaining prolonged drug release from gels. It was shown that various commonly used drug compounds are able to form catanionic mixtures together with oppositely charged surfactants. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Association and Interactions in Protein-Surfactant Systems

    Författare :Anna Stenstam; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catanionic surfactant; SANS; NMR; gel; sodium alkylsulfate; Protein-surfactant interactions; lysozyme; LH2; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Aggregation in protein-surfactant systems have been studied with the ambition of reaching a deeper understanding of the balance of the interaction forces involved. A pure system with maximized electrostatic interactions has been used. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Surfactant self-assembly is an important phenomenon that occurs in a number of processes in our everyday life. It is important to understand the forces and parameters that control and influence the self-assembly, as this knowledge can be used both in order to design surfactant systems with desired properties and for creating model systems, for example for biological processes. 4. 4. Catanionic Aggregates in Gels : Prolonged Drug Release and Potential Implications for Topical Use

    Författare :Noel Dew; Erik Björk; Stefan Ulvenlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Gels are popular dosage forms.  This topical dosage form may be advantageous compared to oral or parenteral dosage forms. Favorable rheological or bioadhesive properties of gels might provide extended contact times at the site of administration compared to aqueous solutions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Association and Microstructure in Self-Assembling Catanionic Systems

    Författare :Eduardo Marques; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFG NMR self-diffusion; cryogenic-transmission electron microscopy; catanionic systems; gels; bile salts; polyelectrolytes; liquid crystals; vesicles; Surfactants; phase diagrams; light microscopy; Theoretical chemistry; quantum chemistry; Teoretisk kemi; kvantkemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the phase behavior and phase structure in mixed surfactant-surfactant and surfactant-polymer systems, where the co-solutes have opposite charges (catanionic systems). The initial goal has been to investigate self-assembly aspects in mixtures of single-/double-chained surfactants and bile salt/double-chained surfactants, with the main focus on vesicle assembly in dilute regions.
