1. Controlling the Reactivity and Selectivity in Iridium- and Rhodium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Hydrogenation
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is mainly focused on the development of iridium- or rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation featuring a number of practical concepts including cascade reaction, kinetic resolution, desymmetrization, and dearomatization. The protocols rely on gaining control of the reactivity among different olefins or olefin precursor as well as maintaining chemo- and stereo-selectivity in the hydrogenation. LÄS MER
2. Nucleon-Induced Fission Cross Sections of Heavy Nuclei in the Intermediate Energy Region
Sammanfattning : Fission is the most important nuclear reaction for society at large today due to its use in energy production. However, this has raised the problem of how to treat the long-lived radioactive waste from nuclear reactors. LÄS MER
3. 2nd and 3rd generation electrodes for biosensors and biofuel cells
Sammanfattning : The catalytic and electrochemical properties of tryptophan repressor-binding protein (WrbA), pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) on carbon electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and flow injection amperometry to construct biosensors and biofuel cell (BFC) anodes. WrbA has a catalytic FMN-containing domain whereas both PDH and GDH have a catalytic FAD-containing domains. LÄS MER
4. Preliminary Design Investigations for the Selection of Optimum Reaction Degree for 1st Stage of a High Pressure Gas Turbine
Sammanfattning : One-dimensional (1D) turbine design calculation phase requires a handful of input data and choice of design parameters to provide the blade flow path geometry along with the flow kinematics and thermodynamics properties at the blade mid-span. The choice of important aerodynamics design parameters namely reaction degree, nozzle guide vane NGV exit flow angle or flow coefficient and stage loading defines the mid-span flow velocity triangles. 5. Lipid Nanotube Networks: Shape Transitions and Insights into the Dynamics of Self-Organization
Sammanfattning : Nanotube-vesicle networks (NVNs) are simplified models of cell membrane tubular systems which are dynamic transportation routs for molecular cargoes in biological cells. The presented work describes dynamic properties of NVNs such as self-organization, shape and topology transformations; moreover, specific geometric properties of the networks are used for controlling enzymatic reactions.
