  1. 1. The significance of mitochondrial respiratory function in regulating oxygen uptake and performance in humans

    Författare :Daniele A. Cardinale; Filip J Larsen; David Bishop; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mitochondria; OXPHOS; p50mito; mitochondrial oxygen affinity; oxygen extraction; sex difference; hyperoxia; training; muscle metabolism; performance; HIIT; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The mitochondrion is one of the most fascinating organelles of our cells which has kept and keeps researchers busy in studying its origin, the complex morphology, the numerous functions, the rapid adaptations to a variety of stimuli and its role in health and disease. Exercise challenges cellular homeostasis and skeletal muscle mitochondria greatly adapt to repeated bouts of exercise by increasing mitochondrial respiratory function and content to match energy requirements and to better sustain future perturbations induced by muscle contractions. 2. 2. Rehabilitation after stroke with focus on early supported discharge and post-stroke fatigue

    Författare :Anna Bråndal; Per Wester; Lillemor Lundin-Olsson; Eva-Lotta Glader; Lena von Koch; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Stroke; early supported discharge; post-stroke fatigue; patient reported outcome measurement; Fatigue assessment scale; cardiorespiratory training; sjukgymnastik; Physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : Background Stroke is a major cause of disability worldwide. After treatment in a specialized stroke unit, early supported discharge (ESD) followed by home rehabilitation has shown to be an effective way to improve patient outcome and quality of care for persons with mild to moderate stroke. 3. 3. High-intensity interval training in combination with aerobic or resistance training for patients with breast cancer : a HIIT to counteract detrimental effects of chemotherapy

    Författare :Sara Mijwel; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : With the increasing number of individuals that enter cancer survivorship there is a growing need for interventions that can alleviate treatment-related adverse effects such as fatigue, and that can improve and restore physical functioning and health-related quality of life during and after treatment. After a breast cancer diagnosis, patients with breast cancer show significantly reduced physical activity levels, especially during the adjuvant treatment phase. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exercise in patients with chronic heart failure. With emphasis on peripheral muscle training, hydrotherapy and type 2 diabetes mellitus

    Författare :Åsa Cider; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Exercise tolerance; Ejection fraction; Metabolic function; Muscle function; Oxygen uptake; Physical therapy techniques; Quality of life; Rehabilitation; Stroke volume; Water immersion;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic heart failure (CHF) is not uncommon in developed countries with a growing ageing population. CHF is a chronic syndrome, which markedly impact negatively on the patient s life situation. Considerable impaired physical function and reduced health related quality of life is often present. 5. 5. Frame Running : enabling health improvements through physical exercise in individuals with cerebral palsy

    Författare :Emma Hjalmarsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Cerebral palsy (CP), caused by a damage to the developing brain, is the most common cause of motor disability in childhood. People with CP may have varying degrees of activity limitation, which affect their cardiorespiratory and muscle fitness. LÄS MER
