6. Current Medical Treatment of Endocrine Pancreatic Tumors and Future Aspects
Sammanfattning : We treated 16 patients with somatostatin analogs combined with α-interferon and achieved a biochemical and/or radiological response in 56% (median duration 22 months). We consider this treatment a good alternative for patients who fail during chemotherapy or who do not want to/cannot receive cytotoxic drugs. LÄS MER
7. Aspects of the human enteric nervous system : A study of the normal development and of Hirschsprung's disease
Sammanfattning : Thirty patients with Hirschsprung's disease (HD) who underwent Rehbein's anterior resection, using a circular stapler to perform the anastomosis, were evaluated retrospectively. The postoperative complication rate and long-term functional outcome were similar to those reported by other investigators using the same and other techniques. LÄS MER
8. Regulation of Apoptosis in Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells: Involvement of Different Signaling Pathways
Sammanfattning : Proliferation, differentiation, and survival of hematopoietic stem cells and multipotent progenitor cells are regulated by cytokines and cell-cell interactions. Kit ligand (KL) and Flt3 ligand (FL) have pleiotropic effects, promotes survival, but are nonredundant. LÄS MER
9. The Role of Kit and Thrombopoietin in Regulation of Hematopoietic Stem Cells
Sammanfattning : The hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) is postulated to be the ultimate hematopoietic precursor providing production of mature blood cells, and is characterized by a life long capacity for self-renewal and multilineage differentiation. In a healthy human, the HSC produces 1,000,000,000,000 cells per day, illustrating the high turnover within the hematopoietic system and the need for replenishments by HSCs. LÄS MER
10. C-Kit as an Oncogenic Tyrosine Kinase - Regulation and Dysregulation of Signaling Pathways
Sammanfattning : It is well known that increased growth and survival of cancer cells often is a result of dysregulated kinase activity and aberrant kinase signaling. The receptor tyrosine kinase c-Kit and its ligand SCF are contributors to this phenomenon in a variety of human cancers, for example hematological malignancies, germ cell tumors and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
