  1. 1. Fire safety evaluation of multifunctional buildings - Special emphasis on antagonistic attacks and protection of sensitive areas

    Författare :Martin Nilsson; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multifunctional building; multipurpose building; antagonism; terrorism; design fire; fire scenario; sensitive areas; electrical appliances room; fire protection; hypoxic air venting; reduced oxygen; fire growth; building code; fire safety engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Multifunctional buildings, often hosting societal important functions, have become increasingly more common during the last years. The combination of many functions within the same building as well as an increased exposure to antagonistic attacks create new, not previously well analyzed problems for fire safety. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Energy Efficient Window Systems. Effects on Energy Use and Daylight in Buildings

    Författare :Helena Bülow-Hübe; Avdelningen för Energi och byggnadsdesign; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; simulation; thermal transmittance; solar energy transmittance; shading device; solar protection; cooling; heating; energy demand; building; low-emittance coating; window; glazing; comfort; user aspects; operative temperature; Architecture; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik; daylight; perception; interior design; Arkitektur; inredningsarkitektur; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with energy-efficient windows in Swedish buildings. Parametric studies were performed in the dynamic energy simulation tool Derob-LTH in order to study the effects of window choices on energy use and indoor climate for both residential and office buildings. 3. 3. Monument & miljö : perspektiv på det tidiga 1900-talets byggnadsvård i Sverige

    Författare :Ola Wetterberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; restoration; vernacular architecture; architects; building conservation; museum curators; building regulations; model designs; local preservation; monuments; building culture; town planning;

    Sammanfattning : The fundamental aim of this thesis is to survey the ways in which historical factors were considered in building conservation, building activities and town planning during the first decades of the twentieth century. The main concern is the ways these factors were introduced in legislation and governmental organisation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Development of a European Fire Classification System for Building Products - Test Methods and Mathematical Modelling

    Författare :Björn Sundström; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik; Teknik; Technological sciences; Brandteknik; Fire Protection Engineering; Conflame; Cone Tools; FDS; CFD; Duhamel?s integral; Fire Growth Rate; FIGRA; Euroclass; SBI; Single Burning Item; Cone Calorimeter; Room Corner Test; fire modelling; Reaction to fire; flashover;

    Sammanfattning : The fire technical properties of products are determining factors for the initiation and growth of fires. Measurement of fire technical properties and the understanding of how they relate to real hazards are therefore important for fire safety. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Safety in Case of Fire - The Effect of Changing Regulations

    Författare :Johan Lundin; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Technological sciences; verification; risk analysis; uncertainty; prescriptive; risk control; building regulation; Performance-based; fire safety engineering; Teknik; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this doctoral thesis some fundamental problems concerning society's ability to control the safety in buildings in the case of fire by issuing performance-based building regulations are identified and analysed. Fire protection documentation from forty-six projects was studied, together with a detailed analysis of the Swedish building regulations and an extensive risk analysis of a class of buildings. LÄS MER
