  1. 1. Activity quantification based on scintillation camera imaging - Application to 111In/90Y radioimmunotherapy

    Författare :David Minarik; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radioimmunotherapy; bremsstrahlung imaging; activity quantification; SPECT; conjugate view; Yttrium;

    Sammanfattning : Radionuclide therapy (RNT), is important for the treatment of certain benign and malignant diseases. 90Y-Zevalin™ therapy has become an established method of treating patients with non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Energy and intensity modulated radiation therapy with electrons

    Författare :Lennart Olofsson; Mikael Karlsson; Magnus Karlsson; Björn Zackrisson; Erik Traneus; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiation sciences; Radiation therapy; Conformal therapy; IMRT; Electrons; Electron treatment head; Electron MLC; Bremsstrahlung reduction; Integral dose; Penumbra; Output factor; Strålningsvetenskap; Radiation biology; Strålningsbiologi; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years intensity modulated radiation therapy with photons (xIMRT) has gained attention due to its ability to reduce the dose in the tissues close to the tumour volume. However, this technique also results in a large low dose volume. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modeling Silicon Diode Dose Response in Radiotherapy Fields using Fluence Pencil Kernels

    Författare :Karin Eklund; Anders Ahnesjö; Erik Grusell; Hugo Palmans; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiological physics; Radiofysik; Medicinsk radiofysik; Medical Radiophysics;

    Sammanfattning : In radiotherapy, cancer is treated with ionizing radiation, most commonly bremsstrahlung photons from electrons of several MeV. Secondary electrons produced in photon-interactions results in dose deposition. The treatment response is low for low doses, raises sharply for normal treatment doses and saturates at higher doses. 4. 4. Development of improved radiation therapy techniques using narrow scanned photon beams

    Författare :Björn Andreassen; Anders Brahme; Håkan Danared; Roger Svensson; Antony Lomax; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :IMRT; Scanned photon beams; PET-CT treatment verification; Monte Carlo; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis is focused on the development and application of narrow scanned high energy photon beam for radiation therapy. The introduction of physically and biologically optimized intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) requires a flexible and accurate dose delivery method to maximize the treatment outcome. 5. 5. Radiation dose and x-ray beam modelling in diagnostic and interventional radiology using Monte Carlo methods

    Författare :Artur Omar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Although medical imaging is essential for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of medical conditions, the radiation dose from x-ray examinations is one of the largest contributors to the exposure of the world’s population. It is therefore the responsibility of healthcare professionals to ensure that examinations are justified (a net benefit) and optimized (as low dose as reasonably achievable). LÄS MER
