  1. 1. Generic Properties of Polymer Solutions

    Författare :Takashi Uematsu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photon correlation spectroscopy; collective diffusion; atomic force microscopy; relaxation; agarose gel electrophoresis; DNA; Zimm dynamics; pulsed-field gradient NMR; superdiffusion; polymer solution; blob model; gel;

    Sammanfattning : Polymer solutions are abundantly present in our daily life, for example in paints, jellies, contact lenses and even in the living cells. Despite their ubiquity, we still have a poor understanding of the physical properties of solutions due to the extremely large number of internal degrees of freedom. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer vision; low-level processing; scale-space; diffusion; Gaussian filtering; discrete smoothing; primal sketch; segmentation; descriptive elements; scale detection; image structure; focus-of-attention; tuning low-level processing; blob detection; edge detection; edge focusing; histogram analysis; junction classification; perceptual grouping; texture analysis; critical points; classification of blob events; bifurcations; drift velocity; density of local extrema; multi-scale representation; digital signal processing; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis, within the subfield of computer science known as computer vision, deals with the use of scale-space analysis in early low-level processing of visual information. The main contributions comprise the following five subjects:The formulation of a scale-space theory for discrete signals. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modelling of Multicomponent Fuel Sprays

    Författare :Vignesh Pandian Muthuramalingam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; multicomponent fuel sprays; diesel and gasoline engine conditions; CFD; resolving counterbore; GDI injector; resolving injector orifice; secondary breakup; stochastic blob and bubble model; differential evaporation;

    Sammanfattning : The use of fuel blends (conventional fuels blended with renewable ones) has gained importance in the automotive industry as an option to reduce emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. In order to make the fuel blends commercially viable, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is used to complement the experiments (done on engines or spray chambers) by providing fundamental insight into spray formation. 4. 4. MULTICOMPONENT SPRAY-TURBULENCE INTERACTION

    Författare :Vignesh Pandian Muthuramalingam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gasoline diesel blend; CFD; multicomponent fuel sprays; ethanol iso-octane blend; Stochastic Blob and Bubble VSB2 spray model; direct injection engines;

    Sammanfattning : Blended fuels are gaining importance in automotive industry owing to stringent legislations for emissions. It is important to understand the fuel spray formed as a consequence of injecting blended fuels into the engine (for direct injection engines) and also the influence of fuel spray on combustion properties. 5. 5. CFD Modeling of an Alcohol-Diesel Direct-Injection Dual-Liquid-Fuel Engine using OpenFOAM

    Författare :Andreas Nygren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Renewable Fuels; Dual-Fuel Combustion; CFD; Spray Modeling;

    Sammanfattning : Legislation for heavy duty combustion engines are becoming more stringent. To keep up with the legislation, new engine technology is required. Furthermore, renewable fuels can also be used together with new engine technology to further reduce emissions. LÄS MER
