1. Small Sanitation Systems – Treatment Efficiency, Sustainability and Implementation
Sammanfattning : Current socio-technical wastewater system paradigms are being challenged by emerging global issues such as climate change, environmental degradation and scarcity of resources. Thus, exploration of innovative new urban water management solutions is required that enable closure of resource loops. LÄS MER
2. Targeted and untargeted analysis of organic contaminants from on-site sewage treatment facilities : Removal, fate and environmental impact
Sammanfattning : On-site sewage treatment facilities (OSSFs) are widely used all over the world to treat wastewater when large-scale sewage treatment plants (STPs) are not economically feasible. Although there is great awareness that the release of untreated wastewater into the environment can lead to water-related diseases and eutrophication, little is known about organic contaminants and their removal by OSSFs, environmental load and fate. 3. Comparative study on different Anammox systems
Sammanfattning : The legal requirements for wastewater discharge into environment, especially to zones exposed to eutrophication, lately became stricter. Nowadays wastewater treatment plants have to manage with the new rules and assure better biogenic elements’ removal, in comparison with the past. LÄS MER
4. Controlling and monitoring of deammonification process in moving bed biofilm reactor
Sammanfattning : It is considered that partial nitrification combined with anammox, named deammonification, is more environmental friendly compared with conventional nitrification/denitrification due to decrease energy requirement, low emission of CO2 and N2O. Dissolved oxygen (DO) is a significant parameter influencing the nitrogen removal rate and activity of different microorganisms. LÄS MER
5. Constructing a Pipe-Bound City : A History of Water Supply, Sewerage, and Excreta Removal in Norrköping and Linköping, Sweden, 1860-1910
Sammanfattning : In the mid- to late 19th century, modern pipe-bound water and sewer systems proliferated in European cities, a development that has sometimes been regarded as a necessary result of a sanitary awakening and the progress of science and technology. By analyzing the introduction and subsequent expansion of water, sewerage, and excreta collection on the local level, in the Swedish cities Norrköping and Linköping, this oversimplified picture is questioned.
