3. Negotiating Asylum. The EU acquis, Extraterritorial Protection and the Common Market of Deflection
Sammanfattning : How are access to asylum and other forms of extraterritorial protection regulated in the European Union? Is the EU acquis in these areas in conformity with international law? What tools does international law offer to solve conflicts between them? And, finally, is law capable of bridging the foundational oppositions embedded in migration and asylum issues? This work combines the potential of legal formalism with an analytical framework drawing on political theory. It analyses the argumentative strategies used by international lawyers, exploiting the interpretative methodology of international law as well as elaborate discrimination arguments. LÄS MER
4. Migration, health and diabetes mellitus - Studies comparing foreign-and Swedish-born diabetic subjects living in Sweden
Sammanfattning : To study the influence of migration on health in migrant diabetic subjects, foreign-and Swedish-born persons were compared as regards objective and subjectively perceived health in relation to social position, and beliefs about health and illness and their influence on self-care and care-seeking behaviour. Persons (foreign- and Swedish-born) with known diabetes mellitus (DM), aged 16-74 years, were chosen from two different counties in Southern Sweden (n=143/1384; 113/1564), and from a random sample of the Swedish population, the annual Swedish Survey of Living Conditions (n=31/446). Sammanfattning : Postpartum depression (PPD) är ett globalt folkhälsoproblem. Mödrar som migrerar till ett annat land har en ökad risk att drabbas av PPD. Före-komsten av PPD bland utlandsfödda mödrar beräknas vara så hög som 20 procent, vilket nästan är dubbelt så hög som bland inhemsk västerländsk befolkning. LÄS MER
