1. Ultrasonic Methods for 2D Arterial Wall Movement Measurements
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases constitute the major cause of morbidity and mortality in the Western World. To increase our knowledge of cardiovascular diseases, it is important to find methods, preferably non-invasive ones, to study very early manifestations of vascular disease. LÄS MER
2. Acute, ambulatory and central blood pressure measurements in diabetes
Sammanfattning : Background: In patients with diabetes, high blood pressure is an established risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The aim of this thesis was to explore the associations between blood pressure levels measured with different techniques and during different circumstances, and the degree of cardiovascular organ damage and subsequent prognosis in patients with diabetes. 3. Testicular blood flow : methodological and functional studies in the rat
Sammanfattning : Different methods of measuring testicular blood flow in the rat were compared in an attempt to find an accurate method for measuring physiological testicular blood flow. It was found that both the Xenon- 133 clearance technique and the radioactive microsphere technique probably reflect true physiological blood flow in the testis. LÄS MER
4. Cerebral Blood Flow and Cognition. Clinical studies on Dementia and Cognitive Decline
Sammanfattning : The importance of early detection of brain changes during ageing has been recognised. Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) is a method used for estimation of cerebral blood flow (CBF) in clinical work and in research. LÄS MER
