  1. 11. Neutrophils and extracellular traps in abdominal sepsis

    Författare :Ling Tao Luo; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal sepsis is associated with changes in systemic inflammation response and coagulation homeostasis. Excessive neutrophil activation is a key regulator in both pro-inflammatory immune response and septic lung injury. Neutrophil-derived DNA may form extracellular traps in response to invading pathogens. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Mechanisms of neutrophil recruitment in septic lung injury

    Författare :Karzan Palani; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sepsis; infection; neutrophil; lung; chemokines; apoptosis; CD44; F-actin; peptides;

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis is one of leading cause of death despite aggressive surgical intervention and antibiotic therapies. Excessive neutrophil recruitment is a major feature in early phase with immune system dysfunction at later phase. Lung is the most vulnerable, critical and sensitive organ during sepsis process. 3. 13. Inflammatory reactions in the gingiva and the periimplant mucosa

    Författare :Nicola Zitzmann; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present series of investigations was to study the tissue response to plaque formation at teeth and implants as well as local mechanisms involved in the regulation of the inflammatory process. The reaction of the periimplant mucosa (PiM) to long-standing plaque accumulation on implant abutments with different surface roughness was analysed in the dog model (Study I). LÄS MER

  4. 14. Signaling mechanisms in Streptococcal M1 proteininduced inflammation and injury in the lung

    Författare :Songen Zhang; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Streptococcus pyogenes of the M1 serotype is frequently associated with severe streptococcal infections. Acute lung injury is recognized as a key component in the pathophysiology of streptococcal M1 proteininduced inflammation. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Lung aeration and pulmonary gas exchange during general and epidural anaesthesia : Influenced by inspired oxygen concentration and diaphragm shape

    Författare :Adrian Reber; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Anesthesia: epidural; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Physiology; klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Induction of general anaesthesia causes a rapid decrease in functional residual capacity, which can promote alveolar collapse (atelectasis) and airway closure in dependent lung regions. Mismatching of ventilation and perfusion (VA/Q) in the lungs is accompanied by impairment of pulmonary gas exchange. LÄS MER
