  1. 1. Experimental modulation and suppression of anti-allograft immune response

    Författare :Öyvind Östraat; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; linomide; leflunomide; cyclophosphamide; mycophenolate mofetil; azathioprine; thalidomide; cyclosporin A; ciprofloxacin; flow cytometry; production; IL-2; Rat cardiac transplantation; allograft; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The objective of this investigation was to characterise the immunomodulatory or immunosuppressive effects of single drug treatment and the potential synergistic or additive effects of combined treatment with the focus on ciprofloxacin, thalidomide, mycophenolate mofetil, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide or leflunomide added to cyclosporin A (CyA). A rat cardiac transplant model was used to study graft survival and the influence on lymphocytes was evaluated by in vitro tests. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hip revisions with impacted morselized allograft bone and cement. Patient outcome, prosthetic fixation and risks

    Författare :Ewald Ornstein; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiostereometry; NHP; patient outcome; cement; allograft; morselized; impacted; bone transplantation; hip; Arthroplasty; revision; complications; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : 144 consecutive hip revisions performed with morselized allograft bone and cement were followed up to 5 years after surgery. In 49 hips patient outcome was evaluated with the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) questionnaire and Charnley hip scores in 47 hips prosthetic fixation was evaluated with radiostereometry (RSA)and in all 144 hips risks and complications were recorded using a prspective protocol. 3. 3. Mechanisms of liver allograft rejections

    Författare :Xupeng Ge; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Liver transplantation; acute rejection; antibody; biliary epithelial cell; sinusoidal endothelial cell; cholangitis; toll-like receptor;

    Sammanfattning : Liver transplantation (M) has become a standard treatment for many end-stage liver diseases. However, acute rejections still occur in about half of the liver transplant recipients even treated with a combination of different modem immunosuppressants. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The morselized and impacted bone graft. Animal experiments on proteins, impaction and load

    Författare :Magnus Tägil; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatology; orthopaedics; Surgery; load; growth factors; graft healing; remodeling; allograft; Impaction grafting; morselized graft; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the healing and remodeling of the morselized and impacted bone allograft, commonly used in revision of loosened hip prostheses with osteolysis. The influence on remodeling by the impaction procedure per se was analyzed, as well as the effects of endogenous bone graft proteins, and an exogenously applied growth factor (OP-1). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pancreas Transplantation: Development of Successful Preclinical Models

    Författare :Wayne John Hawthorne; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute rejection; simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplant; portal venous drainage; systemic venous drainage; pancreaticoduodenal transplant; segmental pancreas transplant; duct-occlusion; autograft; Pancreas transplantation; allograft; hyperacute rejection; glucose metabolism.; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pancreas transplantation is today a technically successful procedure and provides an alternative to insulin injections for the treatment of Type I diabetes mellitus. This thesis was undertaken while pancreas transplantation was developing and while several fundamental questions were being asked about both endocrine and exocrine drainage of the transplanted pancreas as well as how best to diagnose and prevent rejection.
