    Författare :Alberto Pietrini; Carl Nettelblad; Johan Bielecki; Janos Hajdu; Flavio Capotondi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray; XFEL; single particle; hit-finder; statistical hit-finder; single protein; protein complex; RNA polymerase II; FEL; free-electron laser; FXI; Flash X-ray Imaging; CXI; CSPAD; x-ray imaging; COACS; Physics with specialization in Biophysics; Fysik med inriktning mot biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Flash X-ray Imaging (FXI) at X-ray Free Electron Lasers (XFELs) is a promising technique that permits the investigation of the 3D structure of molecules without the need for crystallization, by diffracting on single individual sample particles.In the past few years, some success has been achieved by using FXI on quite large biological complexes (40 nm-1 μm in diameter size). 2. 2. Zone Plates for Hard X-Ray Free-Electron Lasers

    Författare :Daniel Nilsson; Ulrich Vogt; Thomas Tschentscher; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray optics; Zone plates; XFEL; x-rays; free-electron laser; heat transfer;

    Sammanfattning : Hard x-ray free-electron lasers are novel sources of coherent x-rays with unprecedented brightness and very short pulses. The radiation from these sources enables a wide range of new experiments that were not possible with previous x-ray sources. Many of these experiments require the possibility to focus the intense x-ray beam onto small samples. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Coherent Diffractive Imaging with X-ray Lasers

    Författare :Max Felix Hantke; Filipe R. N. C. Maia; Janos Hajdu; Martin Svenda; Edgar Weckert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coherent diffractive X-ray imaging; lensless imaging; coherent X-ray diffractive imaging; flash diffractive imaging; single particle imaging; aerosol injection; electrospray injection; substrate-free sample delivery; carboxysome; phase retrieval; X-ray diffraction software; X-ray free-electron laser; XFEL; FEL; CXI; CDI; CXDI; FXI;

    Sammanfattning : The newly emerging technology of X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs) has the potential to revolutionise molecular imaging. XFELs generate very intense X-ray pulses and predictions suggest that they may be used for structure determination to atomic resolution even for single molecules. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Imaging Living Cells with an X-ray Laser

    Författare :Gijs van der Schot; Tomas Ekeberg; Janos Hajdu; Filipe Maia; Pierre Thibault; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coherent diffractive X-ray imaging; flash X-ray imaging; lensless imaging; single particle imaging; cyanobacteria; phasing; image classification; substrate-free sample delivery; X-ray free-electron laser; XFEL; FEL; CDXI; CDI; CXI; FXI; Chemistry with specialization in Biophysics; Kemi med inriktning mot biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Imaging living cells at a resolution higher than the resolution of optical microscopy is a significant challenge. Fluorescence microscopy can achieve a degree of super-resolution via labeling cellular components with a fluorescent dye. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Interaction of Ultrashort X-ray Pulses with Material

    Författare :Magnus Bergh; Janos Hajdu; Andrea Cavalleri; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; free-electron laser; dense plasma; X-ray; radiation damage; laser physics; nano-plasma; Molecular Dynamics; Molecular biophysics; Molekylär biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Radiation damage limits the resolution in imaging experiments. Damage is caused by energy deposited into the sample during exposure. Ultrashort and extremely bright X-ray pulses from free-electron lasers (FELs) offer the possibility to outrun key damage processes, and temporarily improve radiation tolerance. LÄS MER
