  1. 11. Time-domain modelling of high-frequency wheel/rail interaction

    Författare :Astrid Pieringer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wheel rail interaction; railway noise; roughness; time domain; frictional instability; discrete irregularities; transient contact; non-Hertzian contact;

    Sammanfattning : The interaction between wheel and rail is the predominant source of noise emission from railway operations in a wide range of conventional speeds. On the one hand, this wheel/rail noise concerns rolling noise and impact noise caused by the vertical interaction excited by roughness and discrete irregularities of the wheel/rail running surfaces, respectively. 2. 12. Adhesion in the wheel-rail contact under contaminated conditions

    Författare :Yi Zhu; Ulf Olofsson; Ines Lopez Arteaga; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; adhesion; wheel-rail contact; contaminants; rough surfaces;

    Sammanfattning : Railway vehicles require a certain level of adhesion between wheel and rail to operate efficiently, reliably, and economically. Different levels of adhesion are needed depending on the vehicle running conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Analysis of rail breaks and insulated joint deterioration

    Författare :Johan Sandström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rail breaks; Heavy Haul; Insulated joints; Wheel flats; Railway mechanics; Material fatigue;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis deals with fatigue related issues in the field of railway mechanics. In particular rail breaks and deterioration of insulating joints are investigated. The study is largely motivated by plans to increase allowed axle loads in Sweden. LÄS MER

  5. 15. On wear transitions in the wheel-rail contact

    Författare :Sundh Jon; Ulf Olofsson; Staffan Jacobsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Wear transitions; Wheel; Rail; Wear regime; Wear mechanism; Mechanical engineering; Maskinteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Wear transitions in the wheel–rail contact are of increasing interest since the general trend in railway traffic is toward increased velocities and axle loads. Curving increases the risk of flanging, causing the contact to change from an almost pure rolling wheel tread–rail head contact to more of a sliding wheel flange–rail gauge contact on the high rail in curves.
