1. Buoy and Generator Interaction with Ocean Waves : Studies of a Wave Energy Conversion System
Sammanfattning : On March 13th, 2006, the Division of Electricity at Uppsala University deployed its first wave energy converter, L1, in the ocean southwest of Lysekil. L1 consisted of a buoy at the surface, connected through a line to a linear generator on the seabed. LÄS MER
2. Millimeter-wave Networking : Fundamental Limits, Scalable Algorithms, and Design Insights
Sammanfattning : The current demands for extremely high data rate wireless services and the spectrum scarcity at the sub-6 GHz bands are forcefully motivating the use of the millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequencies. The main characteristics of mmWave communications are severe attenuation, sparse-scattering environment, huge bandwidth, vulnerability to obstacles and antenna misalignment, massive beamforming, and possible noise-limited operation. 3. Location-aware resource allocation in mobile edge clouds
Sammanfattning : Over the last decade, cloud computing has realized the long-held dream of computing as a utility, in which computational and storage services are made available via the Internet to anyone at any time and from anywhere. This has transformed Information Technology (IT) and given rise to new ways of designing and purchasing hardware and software. LÄS MER
4. A Wave Expansion Method for Aeroacoustic Propagation
Sammanfattning : Although it is possible to directly solve an entire flow-acoustics problem in one computation, this approach remains prohibitively large in terms of the computational resource required for most practical applications. Aeroacoustic problems are therefore usually split into two parts; one consisting of the source computation and one of the source propagation. LÄS MER
5. Controlled Source Radiomagnetotelluric (CSRMT) Applications in Environmental and Resource Exploration
Sammanfattning : An integrated use of radio magnetotelluric (RMT) and controlled source tensor magnetotelluric (CSTMT) measurements, the so-called CSRMT method, has been employed in environmental and resource exploration studies. A number of case histories, including a groundwater investigation in glacial deposits, a study of fracture zones for geotechnical purposes and a mining exploration study of a copper deposit, are presented in this thesis in order to illustrate the usefulness and capability of the CSRMT method.
