  1. 1. Mantle cell lymphoma strategies in primary treatment

    Författare :Alexandra Albertsson Lindblad; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mantle cell lymphoma; registry data; Clinical Trial; Phase I; Clinical Trial; Phase II; rituximab; bendamustine; lenalidomid; ibrutinib; ADCC; in vitro model; TP53 mutations; watchful waiting; mantle cell lymphoma; real-world data; lenalidomide; rituximab; bendamustin; ibrutinib; ADCC; TP53 mutation; CDKN2A; NGS; MIPI; Watchful waiting;

    Sammanfattning : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is associated with poor prognosis due to an aggressive clinical course. Being a rare disease, there are few randomized trials in MCL and there is no defined golden standard in primary treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Prognostic markers in prostate cancer : studies of a watchful waiting cohort with long follow up

    Författare :Andreas Josefsson; Anders Bergh; Pernilla Wikström; Pär Stattin; Anders Bjartell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; Immunohistochemistry; Prognostic markers; biomarkers; Survival analysis; human; pathology; watchful waiting; tissue micro array; Endoglin; von willebrandt factor; ki67; ki-67; hyaluronan; patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Prostate Cancer (PC) is a common and highly variable disease. Using current diagnostic methods, the prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test and histological grading of prostate tissue needle biopsies, it is often difficult to evaluate whether the patient has a PC that requires active treatment or not. 3. 3. Quality of Life and Functional Outcomes in Men with Localized Prostate Cancer

    Författare :Eva Johansson; Anna Bill-axelson; Anders Widmark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; prostate cancer; radical prostatectomy; watchful waiting; quality of life; erectil dysfunction; androgen deprivation therapy; robot-assisted radical prostatectomy; inguinal hernia; information; randomized; Urology and andrology; Urologi och andrologi; Urologi; Urology;

    Sammanfattning : Quality-of-life and functional outcomes are important in the choice of treatment for men with localized prostate cancer. These issues were investigated in the present thesis. All living 400 men randomized to radical prostatectomy or watchful waiting from 1989 to 1999 in the Scandinavian Prostate Cancer Group Number 4 (SPCG-4) were included. LÄS MER

  4. 4. How to model temporal changes in epidemiological data : Treatment trajectories in men with prostate cancer

    Författare :Eugenio Ventimiglia; Pär Stattin; Paul C. Lambert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; prostate cancer; state transition model; life expectancy; active surveillance; watchful waiting;

    Sammanfattning : Owing to the improvements in detection, diagnostics, and treatment, many men currently diagnosed with prostate cancer (PCa) have a low risk of PCa death. For many men PCa has become a chronic disease with a small risk of progression that remains even decades after date of diag-nosis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Localized Prostate Cancer : Results From a Randomized Clinical Trial

    Författare :Anna Bill-Axelson; Lars Holmberg; Bo Johan Norlén; Peter Wiklund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; prostate cancer; localized; randomized; biopsies; interviews; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the thesis were to• explore whether radical prostatectomy is beneficial compared with watchful waiting in survival and disease progression• find possible effect modifiers• evaluate a protocol of multiple biopsies and investigate if men with previous benign prostate biopsies are a group at risk for later prostate cancer• inquire into patients’ and clinicians’ experiences of randomization in order to find out what made this study possible to conduct, and thereby contribute to improve randomization in the futureThe background material was a large randomized clinical trial, the Scandinavian Prostatic Cancer Group Study Number 4, or SPCG-4, which was open for inclusion from February 1989 through December 1999. It comprised 695 men in Sweden, Finland and Iceland who had localized prostate cancer and were randomized to either radical prostatectomy or watchful waiting. LÄS MER
