  1. 1. Theoretical modeling of molar volume and thermal expansion

    Författare :Xiao-Gang Lu; Bo Sunsman; Michel Jacobs; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; first-principles calculations; ab initio; Calphad; Debye-Grüneisen model; thermodynamic properties; elastic modulus; volume; thermal expansivity; pressure; Thermo-Calc; VASP; element; carbide; nitride; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Combination of the Calphad method and theoretical calculations provides new possibilities for the study of materials science. This work is a part of the efforts within the CCT project (Centre of Computational Thermodynamics) to combine these methods to facilitate modeling and to extend the thermodynamic databases with critically assessed volume data. Författare :Daniel Lörstad; Institutionen för energivetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gases; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasma; Energy research; Energiforskning; Direction Averaged Curvature DAC ; Direction Averaged Normal DAN ; Volume of Solid VOS ; Volume of Fluid VOF ; Lagrangian Particle Tracking LPT ; Large Eddy Simulation LES ; bubble; multiphase; turbulent flows; CFD; hydro-turbine;

    Sammanfattning : Cavitation is a problem in many hydroelectric power plants since it can cause adverse effects on performance and damage to nearby solid surfaces. The concerns of this thesis are the numerical aspects of flow simulations in cavitating hydraulic turbines which contain several difficulties: turbulent and complex flows, steady and moving parts of the geometry, bubble transport and cavitation development. Sammanfattning : Throughout recent years, computer based programs has been applied to solve and analyze industrial problems. One of these developed programs is the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) program. The purpose of implementing CFD analysis is to solve complex flow behavior which is not possible with ordinary calculus. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer Simulations for Complex Industrial Applications : From Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes towards Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics

    Författare :Md Lokman Hosain; Rebei Bel Fdhila; Konstantinos Kyprianidis; Erik Dahlquist; Hailong Li; Moncho Gomez Gesteira; Mälardalens högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : Optimal process control can significantly enhance energy efficiency of heating and cooling processes in many industries. Process control systems typically rely on measurements and so called grey or black box models that are based mainly on empirical correlations, in which the transient characteristics and their influence on the control parameters are often ignored.
