1. Micro-galvanic effects and corrosion inhibition of copper-zinc alloys
Sammanfattning : With the advancement and accessibility of local probing techniques that can operate at the submicron scale it has become possible to analyse the local corrosion properties of industrially important metallic materials and relate these properties to microstructure characteristics of the same materials. In this doctoral study the focus has been on copper-zinc samples, both as industrial brass alloys and as micro-patterned copper-zinc samples. LÄS MER
2. The Colours of Diabetes : advances and novel applications of molecular optical techniques for studies of the pancreas
Sammanfattning : Diabetes is a rapidly increasing health problem. In a global perspective, approximately 415 million people suffered from diabetes in 2015 and this number ispredicted to increase to 640 million by 2040. To tackle this pandemic there is a needfor better analytical tools by which we can increase our understanding of the disease. LÄS MER
3. Modification of microcapsules for controlled release
Sammanfattning : Fouling of marine organisms such as algae and barnacles on the boat hull is an enormous problem for the shipping industry. The negative consequences for the society are both economical and environmental. To prevent fouling in general, biocides are typically incorporated directly into the paint. LÄS MER
4. Novel Materials for Fuel Cells and Batteries Light Scattering Studies of the Structure and Dynamics of Polymer Electrolytes
Sammanfattning : The development of new materials and technologies for electrochemical energy conversion and storage, such as fuel cells and batteries, is important for a future more efficient use of energy. Polymer electrolytes are key components in polymer electrolyte fuel cells and lithium-based batteries. LÄS MER
5. Optical and Raman Spectroscopic Studies on H2O at High Pressure
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, volumetric, optical and vibrational properties of H2O were studied at high pressures by combining techniques of Raman spectroscopy, interferometry and optical imaging. Pressures up to 7 GPa were generated in the diamond anvil cell (DAC), entering the stability fields of liquid water and ices VI, VII and VIII. LÄS MER
