  1. 6. Isolation Strategies and Proteomic Characterization of Extracellular Vesicles

    Författare :Aleksander Cvjetkovic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Extracellular vesicles; Exosomes; Colorectal cancer; Proteomics;

    Sammanfattning : “Extracellular vesicles” is the collective term used to describe vesicular entities that are released from cells into the extracellular environment. These vesicles are composed of a delineating lipid membrane and its cargo which can comprise of bioactive molecules such as lipids, RNA, DNA and proteins which can be shuttled between cells and thus function as a means of cell-to-cell communication. 2. 7. Cellular responses to amyloid-beta protofibrils : Focus on astrocytes, extracellular vesicles and antibody treatment

    Författare :Elisabeth Nikitidou; Anna Erlandsson; Martin Ingelsson; Gunnar K. Gouras; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Alzheimer’s disease; Amyloid-beta; Protofibrils; Astrocytes; Extracellular vesicles; Antibody; Neurons; Degradation; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge about the cellular mechanisms behind the initiation and propagation of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is limited. Decades of research have focused on neuronal abnormalities in AD, but recently more attention has been given to the glial cells. LÄS MER

  3. 8. DNA-Controlled Lipid-Membrane Fusion

    Författare :Lisa Simonsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; exocytosis; vesicles; DNA; FRET; fluorescence resonance energy transfer; model system; total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy; TIRF microscopy; self-assembly; site-specificity; diffusion; biomembranes; lipid bilayer; membrane fusion;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane fusion is essential for nerve-cell communication, for protein transport between cell organelles and the cell-membrane and for enabling the merger between virus and host membranes during virus infection. We have demonstrated that short DNA oligonucleotides, membrane-attached via CH in an orientation that mimics the overall zipperlike architecture of fusion-inducing proteins, induce fusion of both suspended vesicles and vesicles site-specifically tethered to SLBs. 4. 9. Structural Changes in Nonionic Surfactant Systems

    Författare :Sanja Bulut; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vesicles; Nonionic Surfactant; Wormlike Micelles; Lamellar Phase; NMR; MRI; SLS; DLS; cryo-fracture-TEM; centrifugation; cryo-TEM;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we have studied structural changes of a nonionic surfactant self-assembly, as governed by changes in temperature and concentration. The techniques used in experimental investigations were dynamic and static light scattering, nuclear magnetic resonance and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (using a novel specimen preparation protocol). 5. 10. Milk Membrane Lipids - Dispersions, Emulsions and Interactions with Proteins

    Författare :Rianne Waninge; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Model milk membrane lipids; Emulsions; Vesicles; Cryo-TEM; Milk fat globule membrane; MFGM; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Milk is a dilute aqueous dispersion with a complex mixture of proteins, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Milk membrane lipids are a part of the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM), which covers the fat globules. During dairy processing membrane material is released and surface structure features are altered. LÄS MER
