    Sammanfattning : The starting point of this thesis is the assertion that the interaction between individuals and public authorities sometimes produces claims which cannot easily be categorized as public or private law claims – “claims in the twilight zone”. The aims of the thesis are to examine to what extent such claims can be determined by a court of law and to establish to which kind of court such a claim is properly to be submitted. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genetics of diabetic subtypes

    Sammanfattning : There are two major types of diabetes mellitus, Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), however a number of subtypes have been defined and classified. Maternally Inherited Diabetes and Deafness (MIDD) and Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY) are monogenic forms, whereas Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA) is thought to be a polygenic subtype similar to T1D.     Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : As humanity evolved to witness an exceptionally high standard of living, Alzheimer’s, cancer and diabetes gradually replaced infections as the main limiting factors in longevity. It is both disturbing and captivating that such degenerative conditions are caused by the most ubiquitous biomolecule – the protein. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The use of structural information to improve biological sequence similarity searches

    Författare :Jeanette Tångrot; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Bioinformatics is a fast-developing field that make use of computational methods to analyse and structure biological data. An important branch of bioinformatics is structure and function prediction of proteins. To determine the structure of a protein is a crucial part in the characterisation of the molecule. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to deepen the understanding of nursing care for seriously ill patients on the edge of life in intensive care unit (ICU) and nursing home when questions were raised whether to withhold or withdraw curative treatment. Method: All studies were conducted in a qualitative frame of reference with interviews of nurses in two contexts in Norway; group interviews of 14 nurses in an ICU (study I, III), and individual interviews of 14 nurses in two nursing homes (study II, IV).
