1. Fluxes of Sensible and Latent Heat and Carbon Dioxide in the Marine Atmospheric Boundary Layer
Sammanfattning : Oceans cover about 70% of the earth’s surface. They are the largest source of the atmospheric water vapour and act as enormous heat reservoirs. Thus in order to predict the future weather and climate it is of great importance to understand the processes governing the exchange of water vapour and heat between the ocean and atmosphere. LÄS MER
2. The exchange of sensible and latent heat over the sea
Sammanfattning : Analysis of the neutral exchange coefficients for latent and sensible heat, CEN and CHN, based on measurements from the Östergarnsholms site in the Baltic Sea has been made. The data set used for the CHN study was based on the very accurate MIUU-instrument. LÄS MER
3. On mechanisms controlling air-sea gas exchange
Sammanfattning : Carbon is essential to the Earth’s system functioning, playing a major role in physical and biogeochemical processes in the atmosphere, the terrestrial biosphere, and the oceans. The concentration of carbon-based greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), has been increasing since the industrial era. LÄS MER
4. Turbulent ship wakes and their spatiotemporal extent
Sammanfattning : Shipping activities occur in almost every part of the global oceans and in intensely trafficked shipping lanes there can be up to one ship passage every ten minutes. All these ships impact the marine environment in different ways through pollution or physical disturbance. LÄS MER
5. Aerosol Exchange between Forests and the Atmosphere : Fluxes over a Tropical and a Boreal Forest
Sammanfattning : The main goal of this thesis was to investigate primary biogenic aerosol emission from the Amazon rain forest through measurements of vertical turbulent aerosol number fluxes. In addition, the particle dry deposition sink has been analysed and quantified, and is also compared with the dry deposition sink at a boreal forest site. LÄS MER
