  1. 1. Competition in Public Transport : Essays on competitive tendering and open-access competition in Sweden

    Författare :Andreas Vigren; Svante Mandell; Jan-Eric Nilsson; Nash Nash; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Public transport; Contract; Tender; Bus; Economic efficiency; Competition; Location; Transport operator; Depot transp ; Impact study; Railway; Line transp ; 02 Road: Economics; 02 Road: Economics; 111 Road: Public transport; 111 Road: Public transport; J13 Railway: Economics; J13 Railway: Economics; Transportvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The results of this work show that the cost efficiency of tendered bus services is similar across all Swedish counties, except for the more high-density counties where efficiency is lower. Considerably lower efficiency is also found for contracts with services run in-house by the Public Transport Authority (PTA), compared to when the same service is run by a private actor. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Purchasing process for freight transport services and influence on CO2 emissions

    Författare :Sara Rogerson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transport buyer; Shipper; Sustainability; Purchasing process; Freight transport; Context;

    Sammanfattning : Companies purchasing freight transport services may through the purchasing process restrict or create opportunities for how transport service providers deliver the transport service. The purpose of this thesis is to explore how the configuration of the purchasing process for freight transport services can influence the reduction of CO2 emissions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Environmental concerns when purchasing freight transport

    Författare :Sara Rogerson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Load factor; Freight transport; Coordination; Shipper; Green logistics; Purchasing process;

    Sammanfattning : Companies that purchase freight transport (shippers) influence the conditions for how transport providers can execute the transport, which in turn influences CO2 emissions. The conditions can be influenced both by shippers’ purchasing processes for freight transport and when shippers prepare goods for delivery. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exploring logistics actions enabling environmentally sustainable freight transport

    Författare :Vendela Santén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; co-operation; freight transport; actions; load factor; logistics; actors’ perspectives; sustainability; environment;

    Sammanfattning : To curb unsustainable freight transport trends; such as transport growth, larger dependency on road transport and generally an increased share of greenhouse gas emissions from the sector, actions needs to be taken among actors in the logistics system. The purpose of this thesis is to explore logistics actions that enable environmentally sustainable freight transport. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Using digitalisation for data-driven freight curbside management. A perspective from urban transport planning

    Författare :Juan Pablo Castrellon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; urban transport planning; urban freight transport; digitalisation; curbside management; freight parking; last-mile delivery; loading zone; data analytics;

    Sammanfattning : Given trends in urbanisation, e-commerce, active mobility and modal shifts, streets have sprung up as scenes of conflict where competing demands for curbside space have increased. Because public space is limited, urban transport planners are called to solve public space conflicts by defining how much space is allocated to specific users as a means to achieve sustainable cities.
