  1. 1. Sociala normer och regelefterlevnad : Trafiksäkerhetsfrågor ur ett rättssociologiskt perspektiv

    Författare :Måns Svensson; Rättssociologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; regelefterlevnad; efterlevnadskontroll; juridik; trafikbestämmelser; hastighet; bilbälte; rattfylleri; nykterhet; accidens; TPB; essens; social kontroll; prevention; normer; trafik; nollvision; Rättssociologi;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis aims to: (a) broaden the knowledge base that makes up the foundation for decisions with regard to how traffic law enforcement is best outlined, as well as increasing the understanding of how the shaping of different public instruments of control affects the chances of success; and (b) contribute to the development of theory and methodology within sociology of law. The relationship between legal rules and social norms play a crucial part in the analysis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling and Lagrangian control of mixed traffic: platoon coordination, congestion dissipation and state reconstruction

    Författare :Mladen Čičić; Karl Henrik Johansson; Miroslav Krstić; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; traffic control; Lagrangian control; mixed traffic models; Intelligent Transportation Systems; Connected and Automated Vehicles; traffic congestion; platoon coordination; moving bottlenecks; bottleneck decongestion; stop-and-go wave dissipation; traffic state reconstruction; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Traffic congestion is a constantly growing problem, with a wide array of negative effects on the society, from wasted time and productivity to elevated air pollution and reduction of safety. The introduction of connected, autonomous vehicles enables a new, Lagrangian paradigm for sensing andcontrolling the traffic, by directly using connected vehicles inside the traffic flow, as opposed to the classical, Eulerian paradigm, which relies on stationary equipment on the road. 3. 3. Vehicle-related injuries : with emphasis on fatality prevention

    Författare :Mats Öström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fatalities; injury; prevention; traffic; disease; alcohol; helmet; airbag;

    Sammanfattning : According to WHO, Sweden should aim to reduce unintentional fatalities, particularly vehicle-related injuries, by 25% by the year 2000. The aim of this thesis was to analyze vehicle-related injuries and injury events, especially the contributory effects of alcohol and disease and the injury reducing capacity of helmets and airbags in order to point out some preventive measures. 4. 4. The role of forensic epidemiology in evidence-based forensic medical practice

    Författare :Michael Freeman; Anders Eriksson; Maurice Zeegers; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; forensic epidemiology; forensic medicine; probability; traffic crash; autopsy; logistic regression; Bayes´law; Forensic Medicine; rättsmedicin; Forensic Medicine; rättsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives This thesis is based on 4 papers that were all written with the same intent, which was to describe and demonstrate how epidemiologic concepts and data can serve as a basis for improved validity of probabilistic conclusions in forensic medicine (FM). Conclusions based on probability are common in FM, and the validity of probabilistic conclusions is dependant on their foundation, which is often no more than personal experience. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Searching for causal effects of road traffic safety interventions : applications of the interrupted time series design

    Författare :Carl Bonander; Ragnar Andersson; Finn Nilson; Claes Tingvall; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Causal inference; Repeated measures; Methodology; Econometrics; Injury Epidemiology; Vulnerable Road Users; Time series analysis; Risk- och Miljöstudier; Risk and Environmental Studies;

    Sammanfattning : Traffic-related injuries represent a global public health problem, and contribute largely to mortality and years lived with disability worldwide. Over the course of the last decades, improvements to road traffic safety and injury surveillance systems have resulted in a shift in focus from the prevention of motor vehicle accidents to the control of injury events involving vulnerable road users (VRUs), such as cyclists and moped riders.
