1. Hydraulic Behaviour in an Activated Sludge Tank : From Tracer Test through Hydraulic Modelling to Full-Scale Implementation
Sammanfattning : Hydraulic behaviour in a large denitrifying activated sludge tank, located at the Rya Wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Göteborg Sweden, was investigated and optimized by using fullscale tracer test and hydraulic modelling. The Rya WWTP is a high loaded plant with a small footprint. Expansion of the site is limited due to several restrictions. LÄS MER
2. Ground Monitoring using Resistivity Measurements in Glaciated Terrains
Sammanfattning : The most common method of monitoring and mapping groundwatercontaminants is to extract and analyse a number of groundwatersamples from wells in the investigation area. However, thereare a number of limitations with this type of point-wiseinvestigation, as it is hard to acquire an adequate picture ofa heterogeneous and anisotropic subsurface using a fewpoints. 3. Mixing and Stagnation in Drinking Water Storage Tanks
Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to studies of the assessment of mixing conditions in drinking water storage tanks and analyses of parameters governing mixing rates and formation of stagnant zones. The work also contributes to a validation of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models of jet-forced mixing in storage tanks under neutral and thermally stratified conditions. LÄS MER
4. Natural Ventilation and Air Infiltration in Large Single‑Zone Buildings : Measurements and Modelling with Reference to Historical Churches
Sammanfattning : Natural ventilation is the dominating ventilation process in ancient buildings like churches, and also in most domestic buildings in Sweden and in the rest of the world. These buildings are naturally ventilated via air infiltration and airing. LÄS MER
5. Modeling of geohydrological processes in geological CO2 storage – with focus on residual trapping
Sammanfattning : Geological storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) in deep saline aquifers is one approach to mitigate release from large point sources to the atmosphere. Understanding of in-situ processes providing trapping is important to the development of realistic models and the planning of future storage projects. LÄS MER
