  1. 1. Tool steel for tool holder applications : microstructure and mechanical properties

    Författare :Anna Medvedeva; Jens Bergström; Birger Karlsson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tool steel; tool holder; microstructure; mechanical properties; machinability; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Large improvements in cutting tool design and technology, including the application of advanced surface engineering treatments on the cemented carbide insert, have been achieved in the last decades to enhance tool performance. However, the problem of improving the tool body material is not adequately studied. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Toughness of Tool Steel

    Författare :Henrik Jesperson; Håkan Engqvist; Birger Karlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Toughness; Tool Steel; Heat Treatment; Temperature; Energy absorption; Impact Testing; Fracture Toughness Testing; Non-metallic Inclusions; Carbides; Nitrides; Statistics; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot materialvetenskap; Engineering Science with specialization in Materials Science;

    Sammanfattning : Toughness is the ability to resist tensile stresses in the presence of a notch or crack. Sometimes gross cracking of industrial tools, mould or dies, occurs due to insufficient toughness. As the economic consequences of the gross cracking are serious, the toughness of industrial tool material, generally tool steel, is of paramount importance. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The influence of tool steel microstructure on galling

    Författare :Patrik Karlsson; Pavel Krakhmalev; Anders Gåård; Bojan Podgornik; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Galling; Microstructure; Material transfer; Tool steel; Stainless steel; Metall transfer; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : In sheet metal forming (SMF) of materials such as stainless steels there is a major problem with transfer and accumulation of sheet material to the metal forming tool surface. The problem is known as galling; a sort of severe adhesive wear, which results in severe scratching of produced parts. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A study of slag-steel-inclusion interaction during Ladle treatment

    Författare :Johan Björklund; Pär Jönsson; Voicu Brabie; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ladle treatment; steel; slag; inclusions; ladle; refining; vacuum; tool steel; oxide activity; slag models; oxygen; equilibrium; Metallurgical process and manufacturing engineering; Metallurgisk process- och produktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis is based on two supplements with two major objectives. In the first supplement equilibrium top slag-steel bulk and inclusions-steel bulk were investigated by comparison between calculated and measured oxygen activity values. This was done by applying different oxide activity models for slags combined with thermodynamic calculations. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Polishability of tool steels : Characterisation of high gloss polished tool steels

    Författare :Sabina Rebeggiani; Olaf Dambon; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tool steels; surface characterisation; polishability; 3D parameters; high gloss polishing; Surface engineering; Ytbehandlingsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The manufacturing of plastic components, like a majority of other mass produced discrete parts, require well designed dies and moulds. Complex geometries and increasing demands on final surface appearance, which is strongly connected to the quality impression, are pushing for high demands on mould-makers and polishers as well as steel producers.
