  1. 1. Targeted Long-read Sequencing : Development and Applications in Medical Genetics

    Författare :Ida Höijer; Ulf B. Gyllensten; Adam Ameur; Lars Feuk; Winston Timp; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; long-read sequencing; targeted sequencing; targeted enrichment; CRISPR-Cas9; off-targets; medical genetics; repeat expansion; structural variant;

    Sammanfattning : Targeted sequencing has the advantage of providing pinpointed DNA information, while costs and data-analysis efforts are reduced. If targeted sequencing is combined with single molecule long-read sequencing, it can become a powerful tool to investigate genomic regions traditionally difficult using the predominantly used short-read sequencing platforms, including repetitive regions and large structural variants. 2. 2. Signaling determinants in Trojan horse-mediated dissemination of Toxoplasma gondii

    Författare :Einar B. Ólafsson; Antonio Barragan; Eva Frickel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apicomplexa; leukocyte motility; dendritic cell; amoeboid migration; host-parasite interactions; podosome; integrin; ITGB1; ECM; MAT; TIMP; MMP; MAPK; Erk; RTK; HGFR; Ras; calcium; VDCC; VGCC; calmodulin; CaMkII; CD63; FAK; SRC; Pi3k; hypermigration; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that infects all warm-blooded vertebrates including one third of the global human population. While infection is typically asymptomatic in healthy human hosts, reactivated and acute infection in immunosuppressed or immunecompromised individuals can lead to lethal toxoplasmic encephalitis After ingestion, the parasite crosses the intestinal epithelium and rapidly achieves systemic dissemination, ultimately establishing chronic infection in the brain. 3. 3. The Prognostic and Treatment Predictive Value of Proliferation and TIMP-1 in Breast Cancer

    Författare :Marie Klintman; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; predictive marker; resistance; prognostic factor; proliferation; prospective; TIMP-1; Ki67; S-phase; MAI; PPH3; cyclin B1; cyclin A; node-negative; validation;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common tumour form and the second leading cause of death in solid tumours in women in the Western world. Despite improvements in the treatment, a considerable number of patients will relapse and die from their breast cancer. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26) and Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-4 (TIMP-4) in normal, hyperplastic, and malignant endometrium

    Författare :Radovan Pilka; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; Obstetrics; gynaecology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancerology; secretion; Biology; Biologi; Cytology; oncology; implantation; human; endometrium; mRNA; MMP-26; TIMP-4; reproduktion; andrologi; gynekologi; Obstetrik; sexuality; reproduction; sexualitet; andrology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to study matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-4 (TIMP-4) in normal, hyperplastic, and malignant endometrium. Most importantnly, both these molecules may be ivolved in the implantation process. Trophoblast tissue from human as well as mouse embryos produces pro-MMP-9. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Structure and function of MMP-2 and its inhibitor TIMP-2

    Författare :Ari Tuuttila; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Metalloproteinases; MMP-2; TIMP-2; extracellular matrix; crystallography; protein structure;

    Sammanfattning : Animal cells secrete various enzymes capable of degrading the extracellular matrix. One of the most studied groups of these are the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). This group of zinc containing endopeptidases consists at present of 26 members and this number is still increasing. LÄS MER
