  1. 1. Defining the genetics of systemic autoimmunity in mouse models of lupus

    Författare :Katarina Haraldsson; Kristina Lejon; Dwight Kono; Chandra Mohan; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SLE; susceptibility; HgIA; genome-wide mapping; Lbw2; Lmb1-4; suppressing gene; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic multi-organ autoimmune disease considered a prototype for autoantibody and immune complex-mediated tissue injury. Although autoantibodies against a wide diversity of self-antigens are characteristically found in this disease, an important hallmark is the presence of autoantibodies to nuclear antigens. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The PD-1 pathway and the complement system in systemic lupus erythematosus

    Författare :Helga Kristjánsdóttir; Marta E Alarcón-Riquelme; Kristján Steinsson; Tom W J Huizinga; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SLE; autoimmune diseases; PD-1; C4AQ0; low MBL; multicase family; Immunology; Immunologi; medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases occur in up to 3-5% of the general population and represent a diverse collection of diseases with regards to clinical manifestations. The unifying factor of autoimmune diseases is tissue and organ damage as a result of an immune response mounted against self-antigens. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Early-life gut microbiota and breast milk oligosaccharides in relation to childhood immune maturation and allergy

    Författare :Ylva Margareta Sjögren; Eva Sverremark-Ekström; Outi Vaarala; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; allergy; infant; gut microbiota; human milk oligosaccharides; Bifidobacterium; Lactobacillus; Bacteroides fragilis; Clostridium difficile; family size; secretory IgA; toll like receptor; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Atopic allergy is the most common chronic disease among children in the developed world. This high prevalence could be associated with low microbial exposure. The early gut microbiota appears to be important for immune maturation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Impact of Tryptase and Epigenetic Mechanisms on Mast Cells

    Författare :Sultan Alanazi; Gunnar Pejler; Constantin Urban; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mast cells; mastocytosis; tryptase; histone; DNA; methylation; neutrophil extracellular traps; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells have a large influence on multiple immune-mediated responses, including allergic conditions, and they have been implicated in various diseases such as arthritis and cancer. Mastocytosis is characterized by abnormal mast cell proliferation induced by mutations in KIT, the stem cell factor (SCF) receptor. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies of immunological risk factors in type 1 diabetes

    Författare :Jenny Walldén (Fredriksson); Outi Vaarala; Johnny Ludvigsson; Vivianne Malmström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic, autoimmune disease caused by a T cell mediated destruction of ß-cells in pancreas. The development of T1D is determined by a combination of genetic susceptibility genes and environmental factors involved in the pathogenesis of T1D. LÄS MER
