1. Active Health Monitoring of Aerospace Composite Structures by Embedded Piezoceramic Transducers
Sammanfattning : The objectives of the thesis work were to study theinteraction between embedded piezoceramic transducers andcomposite structures as well as determine techniques tosimplify the Lamb waves analysis. Firstly, this studyconsidered the design of the embedded piezoceramic transducers. LÄS MER
2. Vessel wall integrity : influence of genetics and flow
Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the major cause of death worldwide. Underlying causes, such as atherosclerosis and hypertension, are associated with remodeling of the vessel wall ultimately leading to loss of structural integrity. There are a number of factors that can influence vascular remodeling and hence structural integrity. LÄS MER
3. Structural integrity of prestressed nuclear reactor containments
Sammanfattning : A nuclear power plant is provided with an extensive defense intended to prevent radioactive discharge in case of a reactor accident. This defense is built up of several independent safety barriers, where the reactor containment constitutes the last barrier to the environment. LÄS MER
4. Protein-Protein Interactions in Human Aquaporin Regulation
Sammanfattning : Water is an essential compoment of every living orgamism and forms a major part of the human body. Regulated water transport is crucial for proper cell functioning and body homeostasis. LÄS MER
5. Thiopurine S-methyltransferase - characterization of variants and ligand binding
Sammanfattning : Thiopurine S-methyltransferase (TPMT) belongs to the Class I S-adenosylmethionine-dependent methyltransferase (SAM-MT) super family of structurally related proteins. Common to the members of this large protein family is the catalysis of methylation reactions using S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) as a methyl group donor, although SAM-MTs act on a wide range of different substrates and carry out numerous biologically important functions.
