  1. 1. Patterns of co-presence : Spatial configuration and social segregation

    Författare :Ann Legeby; Lars Marcus; Laura Vaughan; Daniel Koch; Julienne Hanson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; co-presence; spatial configuration; public space; urban segregation; urban design; public life; spatial affordance;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis notes that there is a lack of systematic research investigating segregation patterns based on how public space is used and frequented by citizens. In order for understanding of urban segregation to reach beyond residential segregation, the extent to which public space facilitates co-presence between social groups is a key issue. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Spatial positioning : method development for spatial analysis of interaction in buildings

    Författare :Henrik Markhede; Jesper Steen; John Peponis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : In offices, knowledge sharing largely depends on everyday face-to-face interaction patterns. These interaction patterns may depend on how employees move through the office space. This thesis explores how these spatial relations influence individual choices with respect to employee movements or routes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Computational Methods for Image-Based Spatial Transcriptomics

    Författare :Axel Andersson; Carolina Wählby; Anna Klemm; Filip Malmberg; Karl Åström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spatial omics; Spatial transcriptomics; Spatial biology; In Situ Sequencing; Visualization; Spatial statistics; Fluorescence microscopy; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : Why does cancer develop, spread, grow, and lead to mortality? To answer these questions, one must study the fundamental building blocks of all living organisms — cells. Like a well-calibrated manufacturing unit, cells follow precise instructions by gene expression to initiate the synthesis of proteins, the workforces that drive all living biochemical processes. 4. 4. Plant-associated soil communities : Patterns, drivers and aboveground consequences

    Författare :Pil Uthaug Rasmussen; Ayco J. M. Tack; Martijn Bezemer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aboveground-belowground interactions; arbuscular mycorrhiza; climate; dispersal; environmental drivers; fungi; genetic variation; nematodes; plant-herbivore interactions; soil communities; spatial patterns; ekologi och evolution; Ecology and Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Soil contains a wealth of diversity – bacteria, fungi, nematodes, arthropods and earthworms are just some of the many organisms found belowground. These organisms play an important role in shaping the soil environment and they strongly influence plant fitness, diversity and community composition. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Spatial Models of Gene Patterns in Plants

    Författare :André Larsson; Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Nyckelord :computational morphodynamics; gene regulation; spatial models; plants; development; auxin; meristem; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Larsson;

    Sammanfattning : The growth and development of plants exhibits a striking symmetry, visible in the regular arrangement of leaves and flowers. Plant development is carefully controlled at the molecular level by gene regulatory networks, and the symmetry of plants can be observed also in the molecular patterns of gene expression. LÄS MER
