1. Radiation Induced Processes at Solid-Liquid Interfaces
Sammanfattning : In the thesis, the reactions between water radiolysis products—H2O2, HO• and O2—with metals and metal oxides utilized in nuclear industry are studied. The reactions include not only surface reactions, e.g. redox reactions and catalytic decomposition of H2O2, but also solution reactions (Haber-Weiss reactions). LÄS MER
2. Influence of Fluid Shear on Primary Nucleation of Organic Compounds in Solution Jin Liu Doctoral Thesis
Sammanfattning : In this work, three experimental systems have been used to study the influence of agitation/ fluid shear on primary nucleation. Three organic compounds have been used with different solvents, i.e. butyl paraben in ethanol solution, curcumin in ethanol solution and m-hydroxybenzoic acid in 1-propanol solution. LÄS MER
3. Influence of fluid shear on primary nucleation of low molecular organic compounds in solution
Sammanfattning : In this project, two experimental systems have been set up to study the influence of fluid shear on primary nucleation. In the first set of experiments, in total about 3000 nucleation experiments have been done with butyl paraben/ethanol solutions, curcumin/ethanol solutions and m-hydroxybenzoic acid/1-propanol solutions in capped vials agitated with magnetic stir bars. 4. Adsorption at the Solid-Liquid Interface: An Atomic Force Microscopy Study
Sammanfattning : The aim of the work presented in this thesis was to investigate nature of adsorption of amphiphiles to the solid–liquid interface. The surface aggregate structures of the zwitterionic surfactant dodecyldimethylammoniopropanesulfonate, (DDAPS) and a series of nonionic polyoxyethlylene glycol alkyl ethers (C10E5, C12E5, C12E8, C10E6, C14E6 and C16E6) have been determined by Atomic Force Microscopy on solids of different hydrophobicity. 5. Investigations intothe crystallization of butyl paraben
Sammanfattning : In thisproject, solubility of butyl paraben in 7 puresolvents and 5 ethanol aqueous solvents has been determined at from 1 ℃to 50 ℃. Thermodynamic properties of butyl paraben have been measured by DifferentialScanning Calorimetey. LÄS MER
