1. Upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor : modelling
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic treatment is widely used around the world as a biological stage in both domestic and industrial wastewater-treatment plants. The two principal advantages of anaerobic over aerobic treatment are the production of biogas, which can be used as fuel, and the lower rate of biomass production, which results in lower maintenance costs for the plant. 2. Long-term metal retention processes in a peat bog : Field studies, data and modelling
Sammanfattning : The study was inspired by the need to assess long-term metal retention in municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills. The long-term processes in landfills are poorly known due to the relatively short time that such landfills have been in existence. Natural analogues where similar metal binding processes could be expected were therefore sought for. LÄS MER
3. On Kinematic Modelling and Iterative Learning Control of Industrial Robots
Sammanfattning : Good models of industrial robots are necessary in a variety of applications, such as mechanical design, performance simulation, control, diagnosis, supervision and offline programming. This motivates the need for good modelling tools. In the first part of this thesis the forward kinematic modelling of serial industrial robots is studied. LÄS MER
4. LES stochastic modelling of cavitation with its applications in OpenFOAM
Sammanfattning : Cavitation is a vaporization process that commonly happens in high-pressure injector nozzles nowadays. It has been shown by previous studies that cavitation has a significant influence on the subsequent atomization process, the quality of which would in turn heavily affect the process of combustion. 5. Modelling and Characterisation of the Martensite Formation in Low Alloyed Carbon Steels
Sammanfattning : The current work contains experimental and theoretical work about the formation of martensite from the austenitic state of the steel Hardox 450. Simulation of rolling and subsequent quenching of martensitic steel plates requires a model that can account for previous deformation, current stresses and the temperature history, therefore dilatometry experiments were performed, with and without deformation.
