  1. 1. Sex differences in children's play behavior : A biological construction of gender?

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Anna Servin; Uppsala universitet.; [1999]
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; congenital adrenal hyperplasia; sex differences; children; play; expectations; wishes; hormones; biology; Psykologi; SOCIAL SCIENCES Social sciences Psychology; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Socialvetenskap Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis addressed the question of what causes sex differences in children's play behavior.In Study I, it was found that mothers have rather sex-stereotyped expectations for how their 1- and 3-year-old children will behave at the age of five, as regards sex-typed activities. 2. 2. Organisation of Asthma in Primary Care, Quality of Life and Sex-related Aspects in Asthma Outcomes

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

  3. 3. Stroke, Sex and Vascular Receptor Changes in the Brain

    Detta är en avhandling från Medicine (Lund)

    Författare :Hilda Ahnstedt; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2013]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endothelin receptors; Cerebral ischemia; sex; estrogen; progesterone; sex differences; human cerebral arteries; endothelin-1; angiotensin II; middle cerebral artery occlusion; extra-cellular signal regulated kinase 1 and 2;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke is a severe cerebrovascular disease in which the neuronal tissue and vasculature of the brain undergo ischemia-evoked alterations. We have demonstrated an increased expression of cerebrovascular contractile receptors in the brain. This is hypothesized to mitigate cerebral blood flow and exacerbate tissue damage after stroke. 4. 4. Enzymatic Regulation of Steroidogenesis and Nuclear Receptor Activation Special Focus on Vitamin D and Sex Hormones

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Johan Lundqvist; Uppsala universitet.; [2011]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adrenal steroidogenesis; CYP7B1; vitamin D; calcitriol; enzymatic regulation; transcriptional regulation; CYP21A2; aromatase; sex hormone; estrogen; androgen; nuclear receptor; PHARMACY Pharmaceutical biochemistry; FARMACI Farmaceutisk biokemi; Farmaceutisk biokemi; Pharmaceutical Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Enzyme-catalyzed reactions are important to regulate steroidogenesis and nuclear receptor activation. The present investigation examines the role of steroid metabolism catalyzed by CYP7B1 for regulation of hormone receptor activation and the effects of vitamin D on enzymatic regulation of steroidogenesis. 5. 5. Genomic and Peptidomic Characterization of the Developing Avian Brain

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Birger Scholz; Uppsala universitet.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Toxicology; Sex differentation; Sex determination; Sex chromosomes; Dosage Compensation; Genetic; Chickens; Coturnix; Gene Expression Profiling; Neuropeptides; Diencephalon; Toxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : Chicken and Japanese quail are commonly used models in developmental and sex specific neuroendocrine research. There is relatively little known about the mechanisms behind their sex specific brain development, especially regarding the impact of the sex chromosomes (male: ZZ, female ZW) in relation to gonadal hormones.
