1. Perceived Physical and Psychological Outcome After Severe Burn Injury
Sammanfattning : There is very little data on physical and psychological long-term outcome after severe burn injury. The aim of the present thesis was to improve current instruments for assessment of these issues, to assess long-term outcome in a cohort of patients with burn injuries, and to explore the contribution of the individual factors of personality and coping on perceived outcome. 2. Accidents between pedestrians, bicyclists and motorized vehicles: Accident risk and injury severity
Sammanfattning : The aims of this work are to better understand (1) the relation between exposure and the risk of an accident between pedestrians and motorized vehicles and between bicyclists and motorized vehicles occurring at urban intersections and (2) how the speed environment and the victim´s age relate to the injury severity/outcome once a pedestrian or a bicyclist has been struck by a motorized vehicle. Cross sectional studies are used, and the relations are analyzed using multinomial logit models, negative binomial regression and other statistical methods. LÄS MER
3. Modelling and Simulation of Reactor Pressure Vessel Failure during Severe Accidents
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims at the development of new coupling approaches and new models for the thermo-fluid-structure coupling problem of reactor pressure vessel (RPV) failure during severe accidents and related physical phenomena. The thesis work consists of five parts: (i) development of a three-stage creep model for RPV steel 16MND5, (ii) development of a thermo-fluid-structure coupling approach for RPV failure analysis, (iii) performance comparison of the new approach that uses volume loads mapping (VLM) for data transfer with the previous approach that uses surface loads mapping (SLM), (iv) development of a lumped-parameter code for quick estimate of transient melt pool heat transfer, and (v) development of a hybrid coupling approach for efficient analysis of RPV failure. 4. A method for analysing the traffic process in a safety perspective
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to extend the traffic safety assessment concept to also include normal road user behaviour, thus not only exceptional behaviours such as accidents and serious conflicts. The goal is to provide a framework for a more thorough description and analysis of safety related road user behaviour in order to better understand the traffic safety processes. LÄS MER
5. Development and Application of Uncertainty Analysis Approaches for MELCOR Simulations of Severe Accidents
Sammanfattning : The contemporary needs in advancing safety analysis methods and the increasing stringency in light water reactor (LWR) safety in the post-Fukushima era require more advanced and systematical approaches for severe accident analyses.
