  1. 1. On the hypersensitivity syndrome induced by the selective serotonin reuptake inhibiting antidepressant Zimeldine : A clinical and experimental study

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping : Linköpings universitet

    Författare :Bengt-O Bengtsson; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [1992]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Zimeldine; Norzimeldine; Hypersensitivity syndrome; Serotonin reuptake inhibition; Genetic disposition; Lymphocyte transformation test; Experimental allergic neuritis; Immunopharmacology; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Zimeldine, the first selective neuronal serotonin (5-H1) reuptake inhibitor to be registered as an antidepressant was withdrawn from common use due to an acute flu-like adverse syndrome comprising fever, myalgia and/or arthralgia and signs of disturbed liver function. A few of these patients also developed a peripheral neuropathy, in the most serious form a Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). LÄS MER

  2. 2. On the possible role of serotonin and angiotensin for the respiratory abnormalities observed in panic disorder and premenstrual dysphoria

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborg

    Författare :Marie Olsson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2002]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; panic disorder; premenstrual dysphoria; serotonin; paroxetine; PCPA; angiotensin; saralasin; respiration; respiratory variability; CO2; sodium lactate; female sex steroids; estrus cycle; Wistar rats;

    Sammanfattning : Panic disorder and premenstrual dysphoria are accompanied by intriguing abnormalities related to the control of respiration, including enhanced responsiveness to CO2 and enhanced respiratory variability. These aberrations do not seem to be shared by other psychiatric disorders, but appear to be relatively unique for panic disorder and premenstrual dysphoria. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Stress system function in abdominal obesity. The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the sympathetic nervous system in middle-aged men

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Lund University Hospital, S-221 85 Lund, Sweden

    Författare :Thomas Ljung; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2001]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal obesity; stress; HPA axis; cortisol; glucocorticoid receptors; sympathetic nervous system; catecholamines; depression; SSRI;

    Sammanfattning : Background: There is a strong relationship between central (abdominal, visceral) obesity, impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia and elevated blood pressure. These abnormalities are included in the term Metabolic Syndrome, and indicate an elevated risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes type 2. LÄS MER
