1. Dynamic skull reshaping for sagittal craniosynostosis
Sammanfattning : Objectives: The present investigation was aimed at expanding the knowledge base regarding the skull morphology in sagittal craniosynostosis and at assessing the safety and efficacy of two dynamic cranioplasty procedures, the modified pi-plasty procedure and the spring-mediated cranioplasty. Methods: The patient population consisted of children with non-syndromic sagittal craniosynostosis. LÄS MER
2. Sagittal synostosis - surgical outcomes and long-term follow up
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to evaluate and compare surgical outcomes in patients with sagittal synostosis operated with the most commonly used surgical methods in Sweden: craniotomy combined with springs, pi-plasty, or H-craniectomy. Paper I is a systematic review that identified the evidence showing that spring-assisted surgery is as efficient as more extensive cranioplasties to be of very low quality, thereby emphasizing the need for more rigorous studies. 3. Surgical Outcomes in Sagittal Craniosynostosis
Sammanfattning : The overarching aim of this thesis was to increase the understanding of patient and treatment related factors behind the variability in morphological outcomes seen in nonsyndromic sagittal craniosynostosis. There is a lack of knowledge regarding patient related predictors for the variability in outcomes, and consensus has yet to be reached regarding best practice with respect to surgical technique for the treatment of sagittal craniosynostosis. 4. On inferior alveolar nerve function after sagittal split osteotomy of the mandible
Sammanfattning : Osteotomies of the mandible are designed to adjust improper jaw positions. While vertical ramus osteotomy can be used for mandibular setback but not for mandibular advancement, sagittal split osteotomy can be used to move the lower jaw in both directions and this surgical technique also permits mobility of the lower jaw immediately after surgery. 5. High-grade spondylolisthesis in young patients : Long-term results of in situ fusion
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this long-term follow-up of 38 of 40 consecutive patients was to evaluate the results of uninstrumented in situ fusion for high-grade isthmic spondylolisthesis three decades after surgery. The mean age at surgery was 14 (range 9-24) years. LÄS MER
